Cleanup categories ?

Sup,

I just thought about that, I don't think having different any% categories for versions make sense. The route is now exactly the same, and we came to a point where the only difference is the Door glitch on 1.07, which doesn't even cover the extra loading times you get on this version (1.11 is more optimized).

I suggest we can remove Old Version from the leaderboards or at least hide it in misc categories. "Any% clockless (New version)" would be renamed "Any% clockless"

Sounds reasonable. Does anyone even run v1.07 anymore? It feels pretty outdated as pretty much everyone has switched over to v1.11. I'd be for it.

On another note, what's up with 0%? IIRC, to achieve 0%, you'll have to do savefile magic which is somewhat similar to the teleporter duplication we've found recently, as in "you dont really have to play the game in order to achieve this" or "this takes away all the fun of the run". I also dont think that anyone would even bother to run this at this time, so ... well, do we keep that or do we do something with that?

Sounds good to me, but why not just name Any% Clockless "Any%"

Seeing as Any% with the Clock Room cubes would require you to change the system time, I don't think it really fits within general RTA rules anyway.

To add to that; We have the clockroom (as well as duping) banned via rules anyway, so maybe we could leave "clockless" from the title.

If we werent okay with taking it away, we should probably also add "no dupe" to it as well :v

United States

Changing the system time is perfectly fine if it is necessary. Clock less is important because the idea of "necessary" is very subjective. The clock tower is the fastest route but cheesy. Someone could make an argument that it's "necessary" to beat the game the fastest, so it was decided a long time ago to create a separate category without the clock tower, and that happens to be the one that caught on.

1.07 is still the version to use for 209.4%, but I agree we don't need version specific categories anymore. That being said, 1.07 is still faster than the current version, just not by much anymore.

0% is a misc category. It's a really cool glitch and one of the few instance where "not playing the game" is actually funny since you beat it with literally nothing. It stays misc.

Ok, so here is what I'll do right now :

  • Transfer the times from Any% 1.07 to Any% 1.11, and remove Any% 1.07. Some of the times might use longjump, but to be honest the best time that wasn't on any% 1.11 (Kilaye) is worse than the last time on 1.11 (bluecheetah) so I don't think we should care too much.
  • Clockless is kept in the title, but I'll rewrite rules if necessary
  • Juikuen explained it well for 0%, so it'll stay as it is. It's not a serious category, just like NG+.

Obligatory comment from the non-speedrunning peasant.

As v1.07 will be dropped, I guess I won't need to support old versions in FEZMod anymore for now (it's the only old version I supported anyways besides 1.09 for DRM reasons).

This doesn't mean FEZMod won't work with v1.07 anymore at all. It's just that new stuff, especially TAS, may only work in the newer version and I won't debug / test bugs related to versions before the currently newest as intensively anymore. LiveSplit sync and the IGT should still work, but as I recently fixed a bug Kurtz has found (crash on new game) for v0.3, I don't know how much it affects FEZ v1.07. The earliest version I own (earliest Linux version?) is v1.09, so I can't test it for now.

United States

1.07 is still the version to do 209.4% on. It isn't completely dead.

Germany

Uh, you're right. Ignorant me >.<

¤adds back 1.07 to the non-existing list of versions to support¤

(EDIT: after reading the 204.9% more closely, RIP me.)
