Enemy clips and spy stacking tech

Awesome finds. I tried my best to find clips in this game but I had no luck. I look forward to seeing more stuff potentially being found. IL boards and further board updates will be up soon.

found a way to clip past lasers but you have to hold the window + more enemy clips and skips

More great finds. I looked into laser clips and I figured out two things.

  1. You can do it without external tools in specific situations. If you activate a switch (or break a box with Alex), you can use that to clip through lasers.

  2. Laser clipping can work universally in console versions too. At least in the Switch version, you can connect a second controller during gameplay, reconnect your controller and that will cause a big lag spike, allowing for laser clips. IDK if you can achieve this on the PlayStation or XBOX versions.

I wish I knew how to find this stuff. I'm trying to finish a casual playthrough with achievements first before I start runs, but I'll try and do some of my own labbing while I'm at it.

@ToxicPinHead

Are the enemy clips precise to set up? I couldn't get the science lab one to work.

Anyway, looks we have a general checkpoint warp that works just like the actual group respawn points by intentionally getting caught which is useful for 1P/2P, so here's another example in "Mysterious burglary" which puts the spies right in front of a three-button door:

From my experience, it depends where you wanna clip. Some clips are fairly simple and consistent while others are more finnicky and inconsistent. Not sure which science lab clip you mean but if you mean the one at the beginning of level 3, that is one of the simpler ones. Simply rolling into the corner of the door and switching characters works most of the time. If it doesn’t, you can get close to the guard and roll to bring him back to you once he’s walking away.

And death warps are indeed useful. It’s something I figured out very quickly and it definitely helped out my casual playthrough.

some more clips and skips, and holding the window also seems to keep your height when walking off ledges so you can stack on any staircase. some enemy clips are bad and some are free

Wow, even more jank with window holding/controller connecting. Good stuff. This game could definitely have some unique co-op strats using spy stacking since you don't have to worry about the AI being dumb. That first clip in level 1 is something I kept trying on my own but I ultimately never got it to work. It's nice to see that it's actually possible. I do wonder though if you could instead opt to open the door normally and then perhaps clip into the other side of the next outdoors area (rather than climbing up to the next section). I didn't get it to work when I tried (and testing it is a nightmare since there is no checkpoint after you open the door) but I didn't look too deep into it.

That last box skip was also something I found during my casual playthrough. It's funny just how simple it is.

That box skip reminds me of the one on level 1 where you can hug the wall to skip some of the puddles. Probably not as useful since you can checkpoint warp in the last map.

I wonder if the enemy clips have to do with timing the roll, rolling at a specific angle, or which spy I use. I hugged the same corner of the door and rolled as Alex but simply got pushed aside. I didn't think which spy mattered because it seems like you can do this as any of them.

Yes, clipping works with all spies. I think they all have the same collision boxes although I am not certain.

last building skip for downtown panic using a clip and getting on the level wall

Neat. I looked into the OOB in the beginning of this level (after the first skip where you spy stack into the next part of the level). You can explore most of the level all the way up to that stealth section near the end but it seems like the only way to progress is to hit that loading trigger right after the skip. The rest of the level isn’t loaded properly and as far as I could tell, you can’t complete any objectives. You can even get up to the final floor on the hotel but if you do that, you are basically stuck.

yea i had a look at the game with some unity editor thing and the only way you can skip parts of the level is by getting into a bonus area which loads the later states of the level. you can do this in the biker level but its a 1p3c strat and really hard, after getting 2 people over the fence you can use the clover bonus door to progress the level and fix it. i tried going around using an enemy clip instead of the 1p3c but you have to use a clover switch which softlocks the game because the game isn't in the fixed state yet and it saves the switch being used which stops a circle marker spawning in

more skips. the docks one might be 2 player only so idk if 1p2c is gonna be a thing

Good stuff. I looked into the museum skip and it turns out that you don’t have to head for the loading zone. The cutscene trigger is always active so you can aim for it and continue the level as normal. I wanted to see if you could get to that part of the museum even earlier (before all of the individual spy side missions) and I did find that you could use 1p2c stacking to get over the barrier to that part of the museum but the camera stops you from progressing any further so unless you could get all 3 spies over the barrier (and even then, IDK if the cutscene is active or not in this scenario), I doubt you can do much.

As for 1p2c stuff, that is a tricky one. This game doesn’t have traditional drop in-drop out co-op so the most realistic way you can do 1p2c strats is to reload the level whenever you need 1p2c and then play through as much of the level with 1p2c as you need to. It will definitely be cumbersome to utilise in this game. I guess you could use a combination of pausing and the D-pad to make 1p2c movement consistent for skips on console. Not really sure if we should go ahead with allowing it.

I’m also unsure about window hold/controller disconnect currently since it still needs to be checked on PS4/5 and XB1/Series. If it’s a case where it only works on some versions, there will need to be at least some restrictions put in place.

I did some museum digging and I figured out a couple of things in the box section. I'm not sure if Pinhead already figured out anything here (I don't recall seeing this section in his videos) so I thought it would be worth sharing. It might be faster to use window hold to get on top of the box in the second route rather than pushing the box from the other side but I'm not certain.

Here's an enemy clip I found in the sewers:

And we found out that the right side checkpoint in the final exam room is active from the start, so you can clip into it right away (ignore me setting the trap, that was before I saw the trigger and realized):

As cool as some of the 1p2c/3c tech is, some of it is also impractical just on its own, let alone having to load saves in co-op mode. If we're doing the majority of or entire levels in co-op (especially ILs), those would probably just end up on the 2p/3p boards tbh, with one runner listed. Probably worth opening a separate thread.

In Hi-Fi RUSH, the window hold tech is so game-breaking that an Unrestricted board was created for it, and it's still PC-exclusive. It's nowhere near as game-breaking in TSCM, though.

finally got that burglar 3 player skip. for some reason you can window hold into this tree (and the other trees) and get height. the 2nd vid is just a box push skip by holding the window and the 3rd vid is a consistent robot clip. i also somehow got clover to ignore laser traps forever and idk how i got that state in the woohp prison level

A discord server for this game (and the series as a whole) has now been added. It is still new and rather barebones but any adjustments can be made in the future. The server probably won't get much traffic but if anyone is interested, absolutely feel free to join:
