What? No ones even started a topic on New n Tasty yet? Well I gotta change that!

With the PC release right around the corner we gotta at least get the ball rolling so any new runners with the new versions dont have a hard time getting in. So heres the thread discussing the 100% category and all other categories for New n Tasty.

I havnt got much to discuss on my own, so Post away!

I might consider running this at some point on my PS4. I can't stand any% on Abe games, I just have to save them all :p

Should we have a separate category for PC or are the speeds negligible?

New South Wales, Australia

We dont know. The PC version comes out in a few weeks. And the ps3 and Xbone versions next month. Right now starwin starts the timer at the new game screen, but if theres load time differences we may have to start when Abe drops down, and either use the in game timer or show the final time W/O loads. If the PC version or other version finds some trick that we cant do on say PS4, then we may have to seperate the cetagories.

Heres a video showing the current route fpr paramonia. It doesnt include the tiny movement optimisations weve found since, to chisel the time to sub 5 mins. And heres the main tricks I used:

And here is a run of Monsaic Lines and Rupture farms 100%

I will continue to speedrun New 'n' Tasty when the Steam version comes out. After my 100% playthrough on the Mac version which will be streamed, I will then do some any% runs on to improve on my easy time. Now I have starvin's any% hard mode video, it shouldn't take me that long to find some faster strats for the easy mode and beat my time.

Yeah, with damage boosting and more mines to carry u should be able to get sub 1 hour single segment in no time.

Scotland

Can we add a section for Alf's Escape runs? I hold the Normal and Easy and would like to get them up here!

Thats a good idea. But with all the difficulty settings well end up having 9 categories, is that too many for a game with like 6 runners?

New South Wales, Australia

Actually, it might end up being 12 categories. I through out the idea of a 3rd category for a 50% run, and starwin and blacksuit approved. The idea, is beat the game as fast as possible while collecting exactly 150 mudokons. The route would be very customizable, and probably be the best race category because of that. But if people start running that well then have 12 categories. Damn you difficulty settings lol.

Im going to try and see if I can make a trick exhibition for the entire game before the PC version drops. Im also going to spend some time glitch hunting tomorrow.

Im 2/3rds done with the trick exhibition. Ive left a couple things out because either I didnt think they were worth mentioning or they were too difficult to explain through my limited means of text.

Done, here it is:

Thought it came out pretty well. I put a few things in that are basically just guides for the route I use, like the slig room in scrab temple. Alot of this crosses over with any% as well.

An alternative to 3:48:

Sometimes you land on the ledge above the lever which sucks because you have to drop down, but I still think it's faster than riding the pulley. If you run off the top platform rather than walking, you'll fall into the pit though unless you adjust.

We stop to chant the slig in stockyards to make it 100% consistent. In case our movement is off prior. Single segment is different to segmented :P But Ill definately check out the first strat. Ill send Starwin here to test if its actually faster.

Also, I noticed that in the first video you take fall damage. Well have to do some testing to see if that fall damage affects strats later on, as bats play a big factor in para temple.

I timed them both, side by side. It seems that your strat might be about 5 seconds faster, but I dont have splits.

I practiced the Paramonia Temple strat, and while it is quicker by a few seconds, I'd rather have more health just in case a bat touches you. Paramonia Temple is really the only stage in the game on Hard where health matters.

As for the Stockyard strat, I did the same movement over 50 times and got it to work about 60% of the time. That one Slig can be in different positions every time you load in to that area. Every time I attempted the strat I would reset the chapter to see if the positioning would be the same, and it changes almost every time. It also seems that Slig will sometimes quick shoot you, or not so that doesn't help either. It really is a good strat don't get me wrong, I just wish it was more consistent, it could end up being a good YOLO strat if you need to save about 5 seconds. Even better, this could be a good strat for Easy and Normal.

Good stuff either way, I'm really happy to see new things for both Hard categories.

Its good to see that we havent exhausted our options yet either. We really do need new runners. Im sure other people can find stuff out that were missing.

Re: Health, is the ordering of the rooms important at all? I ask because I personally do that room last anyway, so health is less of an issue (at worst I can check my health beforehand, but I don't have to worry about health afterwards). I just did some rudimentary timing of the time spent in the hub room in my route and the one in starwin's runs, and they don't seem to be too significantly different, but I might have messed up (starwin: 16.06 seconds, Mine: 14.50 seconds)-

Here's the ordering I use: http://i.imgur.com/9VqjtGJ.png

Sorry about the Stockyards thing. I tried it a load of times before recording it to make sure it was consistent and I was getting it every time (except times I messed up beforehand, like the first attempt in the video), then I tried it yesterday in full runs and I failed nearly every time. It seemed consistent at the time. :(
