I think we need some more precise rules. Here's my ideas:
-
The game's audio should be audible.
-
In a Multiplayer% run, not any of the player can leave mid-game.
-
The player has to show, at the start or at the end of their run, if customs are enabled or not.
-
The race starts from the moment the player appears and ends when the player wins, when the required star count appears in the leaderboard.
A run like this one should be rejected in my opinion: https://www.speedrun.com/nsmb_versus/runs/y8pl01nz
If anyone has any suggestions or any other rules to add in mind, please tell me here. My objective here is to limit cheating, as this game can be very easily cheated because it's open source. I had a few other rules in mind, like having to put the in-game timer to make it hard to edit/cut, but I'm not sure about this one so I'll just leave it here.
- it can be allowed for top 3 runs
- it can, since he participed a bit of runs
- allowed only for world record, since the variable doesn't do so much different each other
- it's already a rule
I can't agree these rule and add them, only InfoTube or amizur can do that, because they're the super moderator
Number 1, I think it doesn't change anything but I like hearing the sound when checking on a speedrun.
Number 2 shouldn't even be a debate. It's stated clearly in the rules that there can't be spectators. So for me, all players must stay, none should join mid-game, none can leave.
Number 3 is a must. Or else you can judt cheat and submit the same run for different categories. With or without customs makes no difference in some runs, but it must be shown to know what leaderboard the run has to be in.
Number 4, I think it's already the case: Time starts when the player spawns and stops when last star is collected by the player (visible on the screen).
Response to KeiKayGaming: You can't make the rules different for just the top 3 runs or WR... It makes no sense. The rules must be the same for everyone. We'll wait for Infotube to see what he thinks of Snayp's propositions and all that.
For 2. The point is that you're not a spectator, Although KKG disconnected mid-run, he still is part of it and reconnected within it. Spectate match is not the same as players having bad wifi.
On the main pov, no matches are spectated. They are played, which should imply that the run is valid
It's not against you in particular, but I think it's not making any sense
If I take what you and Keykay said, I could make a 10 players speedrun, everyone but me leave, so I do it alone. What's the point? It's not a 10 players run anymore, it's just me. So we are missing the point of the 10 players Multiplayer% speedrun.
About your friend lagging, because video proof s needed, that means that he has all the time in the world to either play when he lags less or fix his Internet to send a valid run.
If someone leaves mid-game, the run is not valid.
About number 3, if it doesn't make any difference, why is it an option then? Propeller is a strong item that changes strats. Because of that, it is needed that the lobby rules are shown. Also because you could potentially send the same run twice.
Number 4 I know it's very similar but it costs nothing to be more precise, so people are not mistaken like I was.
And all rules should be the same for everyone, not just wr or top3 or whatever.
as I said, we can't do anything unless infotube or amizur comments here, since we need their permission to that, we are MODERATORS, not SUPER MODERATORS (Moderators can change rules, but we should contact super moderators before)

People don't care with their position of last position-(like 10th position) and same for us
Also, I agree with furry, if someone disconnected on mid-run, it still considered, because they were on the run before, they don't need to be on all of the run to be considered
they're not considered with they're spectators
I did read that you don't have the ability to change the rules, and that's why I am suggesting, we need opinions from everyone and the ones with powers will decide in the end.
if someone disconnected on mid-run, it still considered, because they were on the run before, they don't need to be on all of the run to be considered
Did you even read what I said? That means that you can make a 10 players run, then they all leave at the start, and you're doing a 10 player Multiplayer% while being solo, which is illogical. Tell me how they participated by leaving the game :)
Players cannot leave mid-game.
If the 9 players leave in the mid-run, leaving only you on the game, the 9 players still being considered, because your spawn is different than them, on solo your spawn is specific, with more players your spawn is different than solo, that's it
Also, i don't think the leaderboard can be remaked, since there is a lot of runs already (848 on this moment) and it will be unfair to everyone, so max that we can do is setting rules like "after MM/DD/YYYY runs must have audio" an example

Yes, that's fair

You're searching excuses at this point. I want you to tell me the point of doing 10 players speedruns with only 1 player. Please be logical.
No offense, but sometimes I don't understand what you're saying AT ALL. Like your sentences make no sense literally. English is not my 1st language, but I don't think it comes from me ; so you should make an effort to make yourself more understandable.
Again it's stated in the rules that there should not be any spectators, so if you join back (whatever the reason) during the round, the run should be invalidated.
English isn't my first language too, but It's not that bad.
Yes I know, I wanted to say that spectating match isn't considered because they're not on the game, but as the rules say, it's prohibited, meaning it should be rejected, i forgot to mention this on my comment srry
Thanks I can see you made more effort writing this one, way more readable <3
To come back to the debate, Snayp is right for me because there's no point of a multiplayer speedrun if it's done alone.
By the way you mentioned the spawn is different in multiplayer, but some other things also vary depending on the number of players in-game, such as the time for a new star to respawn after one's been collected. There's a formula that calculates it, the more players there are in a room the faster the stars will spawn. I actually don't know if the formula changes mid-game if somebody leaves... but it has to be kept in mind for multiplayer runs.
honestly, that's just more reasons to keep it like it is, thats just my opinion tho, we are just mods, i'd say you need to contact infotube to bring this up, but i doubt he would agree
Not sure if any of you saw the rules changes yet, but I have a question about it
It doesn't precise that you have to win now, just get the required amount if stars. Does that mean I can do a 10 stars speedrun, and publish it for the 1 and 5 stars categories too?
