All Gold Symbols Category?

Werster completed a All Gold speedrun Link: So I think there should be a AGS category, because it's a 19 hour run, and you should be rewarded for sitting at a game in RNG: the Series for about a day.

That's not the reason it should be a category on speedrun.com, but it should be a category on speedrun.com

I've always wondered how easily this could be done, so I'd love to see and help this develop further!

Sheep, Exarion did an All Gold Symbols run recently. Check this: He has several Pastebins on this category as well.

That run is exactly the reason I created an account here. XD

I put together a few maps showing the sixteen possible maplets the game can put into (at least?) the 4x4 grid, with trainer sights marked on the second in red.

Necrobumping this because it seemed like the best place to add more info and a question about this category. We now have a new any% route which uses Glitzer Popping and ACE after the 5th gym to warp to the Hall of Fame screen. In theory this could be used to speed up this category as well. I haven't done any testing myself, but assuming the post-game triggers work as normal after this Hall of Fame warp, that would be a big time save.

If we are going with absolutely no restrictions for a run of this category, Slepnir17 also has an ACE Box code that could also be used to get all Gold Symbols without a single Battle Frontier battle. Potentially you would also need to speedrun normally to Fortree and Lilycove for the trade and access to the move tutor unless faster code execution is found to gain warps to those locations.

While I like the idea of this route, I also speculate that there is likely somewhere inside the Pomeg Glitch where you would be able to instead of warping to the Hall of Fame, unlock the Trainer Card and unlock all Gold Symbols without even needing to use ACE and the route for this category would become nearly identical to any%. Even if that happened, Exarion would still maintain the glitchless WR.

I ask those of you who have been speedrunning Emerald. Is this a possibility or does the any% glitch to warp to the Hall of Fame not trigger post-game? I would like to read any thoughts that this could have on the impact of the category.

Hey Peelster, I did answer this when you commented it on my any% video yesterday, but tl;dr the glitched version of AGS would be both a different category, and trivially indistinct from any% itself because of ACE (which is the reason that AGS is already glitchless on the leaderboards).

I'm glad you answered it here as well because something happened where your Youtube reply was not posted. I had a feeling it wouldn't be too much different from any% short of RNG manips for any additional catches for the minutes (or maybe even seconds) of post-game. Werster also responded to me saying "This is exactly why AGS is glitchless." I agree that this category is more impressive glitchless, but depending on how many extra steps in the post-game (and if any extra steps deviating from any% during that section of the game are needed as prep) are needed a glitched category might be feasible. One thing is that while run glitchless, the original title was not labeled as such. Checking the Leaderboards section of this website I am also not seeing AGS listed at all, only any% and any% glitchless.

My main interest is in route differences if any from any%. Or does the current any% route have the ability to simply go back to Oldale Town post Hall of Fame and execute the code for AGS? I think at the very least you might still have to take the Surf shortcut on Route 103 to get to Slateport (see how we don't have Fly yet), take the ferry to Lilycove and then Battle Frontier for the Frontier Pass. I think all of that could be done faster than writing code to give you the pass. (Olddale to Slateport to Lilycove to Battle Frontier is about 2 minutes and writing a code an executing is around 3 minutes.)The bootstrap code I know about that gives AGS requires the Dots/Plus setup (or does the new any% setup work for all codes?) so EV training Dots trip to Fortree and the Lilycove Move Deleter could be required? If additional ACE setup is non needed, you can skip going to the Battle Tower for cloning and instead just write the code in the Battle Factory PC as that's closest.
