if the current one is down why not make a new one? i wanted to join it but it seems they arent letting anyone join as of now
@pureya have you tried that yourself lmao? It's invalid.
For some reason, which I think is stupid, the moderators purposely delete all invite links to lock the Discord.
Here's what one of the mods have said about it before:
They seem to do it when a bunch of users join, and I'm not sure why.
aw :( i really wanted to get feedback on my first run (its kinda bad but id like feedback)
Are you stupid?
It's on the Speedrun.com page, it's already public?? If anyone shares the invite anywhere then are you going to shut it?
If you have an issue with too many users breaking rules, then get more moderators from the community to help. Or use Discord's moderation features. Like requiring users to have verified phone numbers or emails.
If there are too many users, then why is this a bad thing? The game's popular for speedrunning, which is a good thing. If there's too many people chatting then create more channels or turn on slow mode.
okay will wait it out, ill try joining once everyday if the invite works ill make a thread
you can always join the newblood discord and share the speedrun there. there is a dedicated channel in there for ultrakill speedruns and most active speedrunners are also active in there.
So we use the legacy Ultrakill discord as the speedrun discord for the game. This discord is owned by Hakita and is run by him as well as a few moderators including myself. Due to it not being the official server we will often limit the amount of people that can join by removing the link when we feel there are too many people joining at once as a way of forcing people to the Newblood server which is the official server for the game. We are a small team and it is difficult dealing with large influxes of users especially considering we are all volunteers and it is not the official server for the game.
What does this mean for the speedrun scene considering its used as the main speedrun server? The server has always been used as the speedrunning server since before I was even apart of the community, before the game even went into early access almost 5 years ago now. It worked well while the game was small and I even attribute part of the success of the speedrunning scene to us using that discord as the speedrun discord; However, it has become increasingly obvious that there as issues as the game and the speedrunning scene have grown in popularity. This is why there is a question about there being a separate speedrunning discord in the poll that can be found in the news section either in the side bar to the right, or above. Please participate in the poll, post your run as another thread here, or whatever else you want to do in the mean time.
thank you B.G.B for your insights i will try use this forum to get feedback for my speedruns, im stil considerably new
@YUMmy_Bacon5 why are you being an ass lmao? if you run the game (which clearly, you do not) or were even just active in the community (which again, you're clearly not), you would know that invites get disabled when there's an influx of people joining the discord server.. plus, just because it's there on the SRC page doesn't give you a right to be an ass to a relatively kind community, like the hell..?
Finally with a new update on the horizon it is the perfect time to address some of the concerns that have been brought up since the last one of these.
First thing is first I am happy to announce that we will be doing a pseudo board refresh following the update. One of the reasons for waiting fo
