Another problem is mods (i.e. sullyrox) autoverifying their submissions, meaning technically they're invalid.
Well, the obvious solution (and the one I used) is to retime it.
If a run was done (but not submitted) before the rules were created, but breaks some of them, should it be verified? e.g. PerilousPeanut's 2:09.54 run starts timing when Mario moves, not appears.
Yeah, one or two people have already completed runs with it, they were just really slow (hover only final bowser is really hard), and it turns out the trick saves >15s so yeah
Do you think Hoverless (or even FLUDDless) is possible? Not having reached the endless stairs myself I can't say whether it would be possible.
If as soon as you enter the room, you jump, then just before you land, you hold right, jump when you land, do a third jump when you land from that to triple jump then to another 3 jumps after that, the third will be on a seagull (if you got good RNG), and occasionally it'll even be high enough to get over the wall. You can go left out of that room then back right to practise it.
There is a (relatively) consistent setup, so 'all' you need to worry about is RNG
I have done it a couple of times, just not recorded it yet.
(Not sure if this is already known) If you have good RNG, you can perform a triple jump off the back of a seagull in the second screen of Tutorial 1, allowing you to jump on top of the huge cliff thing, skipping ground pounding the blocks and the swimming bit. Saves like 2 seconds if done right. [Video coming soon]
Not sure if this is actually much faster, seeing as it was meant for Hover%, but you can go straight to the Endless Stairs or whatever (final bowser fight) really quickly by doing weird out of bounds stuff, which skips tutorial 2. You can get FLUDD before even collecting 1 shine.
And I thought it was weird when I found this out too. I actually found a way to save about 3s in Tutorial 1, but it's super hard and relies on seagull RNG
Thanks! I think it could be something like 10-20s faster than the current route, depending on how much it gets optimised, and it can obviously be done faster on computers that lag less than mine.
By jumping over a loading zone in an unloaded room, you can clip into a room with FLUDD, getting the hover nozzle faster than is done currently. This has been verified to be roughly 15s faster Of course, I actually mean Hover only%
I was wondering - how do you enter the loading zone for the bit that goes to Bowser with only the hover nozzle? I discovered a way to get FLUDD basically from entering the castle, but I don't know whether it's useful because I can't seem to enter the loading zone whatever I try Edit - never mind, I got to the loading zone 2nd edit - actually I can't seem to do it again 3rd edit - I discovered faster strats for Hover Only!!
I only 'meant' to change the input FPS for that link, the output changing just sort of happened.
Great thanks. I'll also switch OBS to 29.97 FPS. Wouldn't it be better to set the input FPS on that website to 29.97? i.e. https://toolstud.io/video/framerate.php?inputfps=29.97&compare=network&duration=0&duration_unit=frames&outputfps=29.97
Can I just remind you of the 'edit submission' option? You can change the time and stuff.
