so i have been watching a few any% runs and i see people going into first person i think before talking to people what is the significance of this?

I think it is to skip an animation of the camera zooming out.

it saves about a second from skipping the camera animation

This is also why going into first person after pulling the lever saves ~2 seconds; it makes the camera pan out faster for the cutscene.
