How are this rules decided. I mean FAF isnt SC:FA FAF changes with balance patches and so. This means you cant never archive same times.

e.g. OC consumes now way more energy than back then or unit buildtimes...

Sorry for the late response, I didn't have internet for a while . I decided on using FAF as opposed to base FA because otherwise different versions would have to be run if you wanted to use a UI mod, a game mod, or any other type of mod. Not to mention there can be serious glitches that occur on the base FA game where the map will never expand despite objectives being complete, and with units getting permanently stuck in factories. I would rather deal with FAF pushing balance patches that make runs harder to compare, then lose half of the possible content from the game (the original campaigns for example), and deal with a generally much less consistent speed game. Not to mention the hell that is getting multiple people into a base version FA game. Then you try to get mods working in that setting AND. . . FAF is annoying because it updates constantly, I still think it's preferable to original FA

Okay.

Another question. What is when FAF gets a new balance Patch. Are old runs so outdated?

I mean because of fairness (eg buildpowers/buildtme get changed)

FAF campaing used to change with every patch. i am head and sholders into faf community but i have no idea what patch is used right now There are also changes to campaing that are done without any patch. FAF campaing is also designed for coop FAF campaing is actually pretty buggy from my experience... at least it used to be, that is why they were making changes... Afaik new balance paches no longer affect coop campaing (mainly cause it usually breaks after patch is applyed)

Another thing... Supcom is very complex, sometimes it is hard to say what is a glich and what is not... attack move from factory is a glich (exploit) 100% sure for example, building unfinished buildings that have like 1-2 HP to stop enemy shells would be an exploit? i would enjoy seeing speedrun with exploits, especially considering how long it takes to speedrun... ofc i'd probably ban ones that would allow to insta-win a mission.

Getting people into a base version of FA is easy-ish... you create new ingame profile, you rename your mods folder, you launch steam version of the game that is already required for you to buy and have installed to play the game. Some people maybe use CD version of the game but right now they are a minority. Tho tbh older versions could be more interesting (for me at least) as you'd get more glitches :D
