User-Created Track Design Legality?

I'm not sure what the rules are for using custom track layouts in a run. Personally, I'd be in favor of allowing the use of custom track layouts that were saved during the run, ie in one run, you built it once, and saved it with the intent to copy it during that run. You get what I'm saying? I don't like the idea of being able to use custom track layouts that were saved prior to the start of the run.

What type of run would this be on? I'm assuming a full game run since otherwise you'd be copying that same coaster into the same park, which seems an odd tactic. But there are no rules or runs for the full game yet.. A full game run seems pretty pointless, as your time is entirely based on the timers for each level.

I'm not going to worry about a full run until I at least have a run for each individual scenario. Park value scenarios benefit from this type of strategy (for instance, Diamond Heights). If the steel coaster is already available, then the shuttle loop is probably the best option. But if the steel coaster doesn't come until later, I need to make my own coaster that takes up as small a footprint as possible. I am able to complete Katie's World in under 5 minutes if duplicating a custom ride is allowed. In this scenario, the starting coasters are the mini coaster, mine train, and single suspended.

Here's my run where I use this strategy:

Ah yeah, I know Diamond Heights well. I tried to speedrun that and it seems like the Shuttle Loop route is possibly the best, to beat it you'd need to make something very expensive that test runs fast.

I say about the test run as I think the value gets added to the park's when it gets it's ratings (though not sure). If you could build something like that really quickly you might be onto something. Which could actually be pretty easy.

That's pretty cool though, good thinking. Since it was created in the run I don't get why it would be an issue personally.

That's what I'm thinking. As long as it was designed and saved during the run, I think it should be legal.

Are you waiting for your Katie's world run to be verified or are you no content with it and going to do a new one

Or are you going to do a new one*

I have FIVE runs awaiting verification, including that Katie's World run. I submitted a Dynamite Dune run a full week ago.

Maybe someday these runs will get verified... https://i.imgur.com/UTuzCfB.png

Sorry to resurrect an old topic but I def agree with this, and I think this should be a commonplace rule across all RCT games. If the track is built during the game, then all submitted runs have an equal amount of competition, but using a pre-built track design other than the ones that come with the game gives that runner an unfair leg-up on everyone else.

So... if someone pre-builds a track, they become the only person on Earth ever able to do this?????????????????????????????? That is the ONLY way it could be an unfair advantage.

It means that I can’t just build a ride and save it before starting a timer and then use that ride in the level. But any coasters that are available with the game already created are just fine. I am not quite certain what the confusion on this is or what makes someone the only person to do this.

Edit: after re reading what you typed a few times I think I get where you’re at. Sure everyone could just build the exact same ride before hand, but the logic behind this is that ride construction can also be a speed part of the run. Sometimes the build times vary by run, even by same person. So I think it make sense for folks to only be able to build during the actual run instead of before.

Okay. The logic you've presented is that ride construction is a test of speed. Best point I've seen you make. Speed of execution is what it's all about. On the other hand...

For Park Value scenarios, building coasters piece by piece is out of the question, and perhaps always has been. SparkiL did Diamond Heights in 5 seconds, and you're talking about building a new custom design in the run. Or, if not suggesting one does it in the run, bringing up ride construction irrelevantly.

Here's my experience: Diamond Heights - "It's got those dueling Steel coasters... I bet everyone just does Shuttle Loops." "Yep." Katie's World - looking at rides available "Does everyone just do Swinging Ships?" "Yep." Dinky Park - "Swinging Ships again?" "Yep." lost interest

My dream was that there could be more creativity/strategy involved. Beating with strategy is what I'm into, so of course I would advocate for that. At this point I'm not demanding change; just speaking my mind. I've already settled for luck as a substitute for strategy. Besides, the actual placement of Swinging Ships, etc. is more involved than it might seem to the casual observer.
