Rules for emulators!

When I first got here I noticed the then WR holder had a faster loading time and in the video comments it was speculated by the author when questioned it might be due to the emulator being installed in the hard drive. I tested the game on different emulators and after seeing a thread on the bug's life speedrun recommending certain versions of the epsxe for the loading times being faster I figured out I would give it a try and post a run with the best emulator I could find and waited until it was approved to title it as WR, since in that community different emulators are allowed due to those having faster loading times. Now it's been brought to my attention by another member of the community this is unfair and I was requested by him to remove my run. Now instead of just having a discussion in an inbox I think it would be for the best if rules are added to the speedrun and maybe open a discord since I wasn't able to find one here. For Spyro the dragon they have very specific rules on what emulators can be used, we could add those same rules here since it's working fine for them. I'm fine with taking down my run if the community sees it fit as long as we can add the rules as public information here so this doesn't happen again. So what do you think? :)

Hello Chocobolyoko, yes, the truth is that since you uploaded both runs (Bust a Groove and Bust a Groove 2) there is a lot of commotion about the differences in loads of the characters/stages. I think that if you already knew, instead of uploading a run with that advantage, the best thing would have been to notify them so that they are solved before having to download a run because, to be honest, the only rule is to win all the stages, there is nothing about emulators and configurations of The same. You talk about Spyro and you don't have a run up, I could talk to you about crash bandicoot, about silent hill of millions of games where the rules are super specific but it doesn't make sense. I think that the best thing is to put bases on which emulators are allowed and with what configuration so that we can all run in the same way and with the same conditions, in both games

I don't see the point in talking about other leaderboards that will have nothing to do with bust a groove 1 or 2, I know of many other leaderboards that are stricter regarding emulators, I have compared everyone's loading times, we all have around 4 seconds, compared to yours which is 2 seconds The problem with this is that you are playing with different rules than others. and therefore it is necessary to specify rules regarding emulators in case the rules are not specified I don't see why this run cannot be verified

where I am clearly modifying the emulator, just like you

now you talk about the wr that he specified in his video blah blah blah, in your video you were not able to put what you did, you only put avoid fever time to which I ask, Did you review any run before uploading your time? we all try to avoid fever time

I personally consider that it is necessary to establish emulators and run under the same conditions occupying the same speed or maybe only 1 emulator with the same conditions

Ok, I agree with what you say, I deleted both runs, for now I think just uploading runs with the same loading average time should be a good starting point, as long as it doesn't load faster it should be good regardless the emulator. I made sure this time to get a run with the same loading time (I checked) as the other runs and submitted it.

I apologize if I caused any trouble, I had no malice when uploading the run and since there is no discord for any of these games I guessed getting an approval from the moderators would be enough confirmation, my bad.

Hope we can get a discord, that would be great!

Well I don't see the point of making a discord for a community that has less than 20 runners. I think that the most important thing would be to define the rules and which emulators would be accepted and their configurations. A filter could also be added as it appears in Bust a Groove 2 to split by difficulty if this was required by the amount of runs
