The latest version seems unable to start from level 1 because the addition of other players provides extra level bonuses Is there a solution for this?

I've heard that only friend lobbies have this issue and public lobbies are unaffected

So you can create a public lobby, wait for your friend to join, and then lock it. That workaround should hopefully fix it
