So this game has an ingame timer. As far as I can tell, it's accurate. We should reflect this in the leaderboard in some way, at least, though using LiveSplit for split times is still good, of course.
At the very least, we should add an ingame time column. I wouldn't be averse to having it be the primary time used for the game, but I don't really care which one it is. But ingame time should be displayed, at least.
Ingame time seems strange with me sometimes though. It could either be a minute ahead of my livesplit time or behind and I don't know what causes this. I think until we completely understand how it works we should just use livesplit because it will always be accurate.
only time IGT ever makes sense to me is if youre taking out load times to make sure a better PC doesnt mean a better time. otherwise what happens if a trick requires a reset to the main menu? then the in game timer is no longer accurate. then you either have to ban a trick simply because it messes with IGT (never the right choice imo) or switch to RTA.
Ive already made it to where you can't back out to the main screen once in a run to try and figure out how the IGT works. Still have no clue. Last run I did the IGT was a minutes ahead of my splits and I have no clue how that is even possible.
I mean, obviously I'm not saying to remove the real time entry, and I'm still going to use LiveSplit for the "checkpoint times". I also have no complaints about using RTA as the primary time. But since the game does have an ingame timer that displays your final time, I just think it's not a bad idea to include that alongside the real time.
Why not just add an option to submit in IGT as well, and just prioritize runs by RTA like Pokemon does now?
We would still go off of RTA timing so there is no reason to add IGT to the leaderboards. It would be useless so I'm not going to add it.
Pokemon only has RTA on the boards theres no IGT column. It doesnt make sense to add IGT, if its accurate then the difference between 2 runs in RTA and IGT will be the same so its redundant. And if its inaccurate, then its useless.
