I think that if you jump 1 pixel onto a block with spikes, you can avoid dying. Is this a glitch?
I discovered this several months ago. It seems that the spike hitbox is just 1 pixel too short for the blocks that it is on. I haven't found any useful applications of it though.
Thanks! I have not found any useful applications for it either. Even if there was a place where it could be applied, it would probably only save half a second and it would be pretty unreliable. I will keep trying to find places to apply the trick. I will also try to find out if this trick was intended by the creators or not. I was actually speed running levels 1-10 when I went through the springy block like i was a ghost, so the trick is possible in all blocks except for balloons. I will try to reach out to the creators.
With the current pace of the run (especially the shorter catagories) I think that finding any practical application for the 1 pixel where the spikes dont kill you is quite unlikely but I can imagine a few levels where if a consistent and fast set up was created it could potentially save time. I seriously doubt it but it would be very cool if it was worked into a run.
There actually might be a level where the trick could be applied. I will check which level it is. The trick can also be applied to the trampoline blocks, which has killed two 1.36 runs (levels 1-10). I will respond immediately if i find a place where the trick can be applied.
The picture shows me standing on a trampoline block. I think that the spring and the block are 2 separate things.
I definitely haven't seen this, although it seems that it may have way more applications than the spike thing. I'll try to look for some uses for this soon.
Do you think that the spike trick could be used on level 17 to get into the portal at the start?
Has this ever happened to you? (If you bounce on a balloon under a block you get stuck)
I tried the trick on lvl 17 and was actually able to get it on the 2nd try but it is quite precise. Honestly unless the run gets super optimized I wouldnt say it's worth it but it does save a second or so.
If you can submit a video of the record we will verify it and update the leaderboard.
