shadowbanned games?

How come when I am logged in on the homepage I see games I have been running recently, but then when I log out the list is different? I don't actually think certain games are shadowbanned, but it's kind of weird I'm definitely curious why.

When you're logged in, it mostly shows you runs from games in your followed list by default. When you're not, it shows a selection of recently approved runs.

There are settings to adjust the number/age of the runs from games you follow (under "front page" in the settings tab), but they don't seem to work, at least for me.

I was wondering because I have runs from a day or 2 ago and dont see them logged out. There's literally no reason for me to be shadowbanned and I don't even think this site does that LOL. [And other people have run the game recently].

You're reading way too much into it. There is no such thing as games or users being "shadowbanned" from showing on the front page. The runs I see on the front page when logged out are usually runs that were approved in like the last hour or so, so if your runs are from days ago then yeah they're already gone lol. I also don't know how often the page updates, I assume it caches at regular intervals rather than actually doing a database query every time you refresh, in which case there's no guarantee that any particular run will ever actually be shown there.

The devs are too busy, or too lazy, to intentionally shadow ban games. And that the "Latest Runs" page probably has no one even clicking on the games or runs

I think it's less about them being """lazy""" (side note, I really hate when people say this. I know development speed tends to be slow around here, but nothing is ever that simple) and more just that, why on earth would they shadow-ban specific games or users? The only actual reason would be for like NSFW games, which is more of an age-gating thing than a shadow-banning thing. For users, pretty much anything that would warrant shadow-banning someone from appearing on the front page probably warrants an actual ban. So, there's just no point lol

I literally said in my post I dont actually think its shadowbanning LOL. I do wonder if there's an extra filter or a personal selection or something. Like right now i just checked and theres runs from today, but then randomly a run from 9 days ago. It's kind of weird im definitely curious how the run page works.

The run you see from 9 days ago was verified earlier today. It's just by verification date. Again, you're reading too much into it, there's really nothing more to it than "show new runs".
And that the "Latest Runs" page probably has no one even clicking on the games or runs
i always forget the page even exists and its literally the index page (aka the page you get when you search the domain name) :D whenever i open this site its always straight to the forums

So it's not latest runs then. It's the latest verified runs. Which makes sense, not listing the unverified ones.

Yes, there are shadowbanned games. You can see here that no harry potter games show up in the games list.

You can sort by title or by active players, it doesn't matter. You will never see any harry potter game in the games list.

You can only see the harry potter series if you look through series.

Indeed, LEGO harry potter games are also not shown. When sorting through active players, I searched for all games with Harry in them, and for Hogwarts Legacy.

Video is from the same time the screenshot above was taken.

Just look at the right sidebar when I scroll down the active games list.

I have spoken with a supermod of hogwarts legacy, but haven't gotten a response other than that he has confirmed he also cannot find any harry potter games either, and he has filed a support ticket.

I hope it will be, but If I wouldn't bet any money on it being fixed that's for sure.

I hope I'm proven wrong and it gets 'fixed'.

Yes, I'm aware of how the front page is intended to work. What I intended to convey in the DM was that I am pretty sure the random games that are chosen will never be a harry potter game. I'm not 100% sure on that though.

What I am 100% sure of though, is that harry potter games currently do not appear in the games list at all. It isn't that big of a stretch to think they won't appear on the recent run list either for the same reason. Whether the reason it's hidden is due to being censored, or because of a technical issue, isn't really relevant.

There isn't really a way to prove that they don't show up on the front page without abusing site tools, but personally I have never seen a HP game appear in the recent run list unless it's from a game I'm following.

It literally is a stretch. The current games page was made by @Pac, at this point, YEARS ago. But the main page's "Latest Runs", probably uses a completely different and rewritten system, created by a whole new team.
