Can someone please explain how the first place run is an entire second faster than my 5.840? It's the same maze and the same route so it doesn't make sense that its so much faster. Is there something I'm missing or is the emulator used inaccurate to the original system? Any explanation is appreciated

all that it is is that when playing on EMU for games like atari games it is easier to swap directions on a keyboard then when using a joystick, which normally would mean that people playing on EMU have an unfair advantage, but in reality, it is entirely possible to achieve that time on actual console, it's just a matter of going into a turn on the joystick perfectly for each turn, it would take a lot more practice to perfect on real console, but is still possible to do.
I used a genesis controller so there wouldn’t be any problems with a joystick. In the first place video you can see multiple spots where several frames are lost (around the last few turns especially) which are not present in my run. Watching the two videos side by side you can see a clear discrepancy in speeds
You said you ran on an Atari console, now you're admitting you played w/ a Sega controller?
I've figured it out. You played on speed 2, which is faster and also banned in the rules. There is a 3 page locked forum about how the faster speed shouldnt be allowed and now the first place run uses it? An explanation would be appreciated
If we DID use Speed 2, then one of the numbers on the top would say 2. My runs are played on EMU, the only buttons I use are Up Down Left & Right. NONE of those buttons changes the speed. Does it? No. Neither the other runs were found at different speeds, the videos were just found sped up. Those times were retimed to the speed Speed 1 is at. None of the runs on the leaderboard are any faster than Speed 1.
The difficulty switch on the console determines your speed. In your video you can see that your difficulty switch (the one that says F4) is to the right, which means you are on speed 2. If you have the switch set to the other side you can see how it slows down
So if I submit a run with all the exact same game settings as the number 1 spot will it be varied or rejected?
Thank you @nixfumbles. The rules for this game need to be more specific in my opinion. It would be nice to have runs that had something to do with the robbers too since that’s what the game is about
That is WAY too fast for Speed 1. In my 4.480 run the robber or whoever it is goes slower than that. And you claimed MY run was on Speed 2!
the run that @Mars02 did (the world record) is legit in every way, I also double checked when I read an old message about the difficulty switches being wrong in it, both switches face to the right in the video which according to all 3 of my real consoloes (not EMU) is novice/B mode, which is the normal setting that all games default to. There are 4 different game modes and possible 4 more for the A difficulty, but @Mars02 ran on game mode 1bb which is to say it was on game mode 1 with both difficulty switches set to the Novice/B position. Which is what is suppose to be done in the runs.
And also @Carter44 on an unrelated note I noticed that your submission in the video it says "Maze Carze" instead of "Maze Craze".
The run I posted on here was done on console and with all the same difficulty settings as the first place run. I know no one will believe that so I’m not even going to bother submitting it. And thank you@DarQ_Massacres, the title is just a typo. I’ll fix that
