Skylanders Giants

So, I noticed nobody has added this yet, but I have been doing some runs of the game, and I believe it can rival Swap Force speedwise. These are the Skylanders I use:

Spyro - I use Spyro for the majority of the run due to its amazingly fast dash move that gives it the ability to take down a lot of enemies in a short amount of time.

Gill Grunt - In Chapters 4 and 5, there are massive water boost, making it much quicker to switch to Gill Grunt and use then. Gill Grunt can also clear the ice bowl in Glacier Gully much faster due to its water jetpack.

Tree Rex - One of the slowest Skylanders in the game, but only used when Giant skips are much faster to do than stay with a non-Giant Skylander.

So far, I have managed to PB at 2:31:56.8 RTA, but can already think of ways to improve the run.

-Possibly using a different Skylander to Spyro that is faster and can defeat enemies faster. The best I can think of is Flameslinger with Winged Boots (From the Dragon's Peak pack) along the Marksmen path to do a lot more damage (or possibly Pyromancy does more? Would need testing) -I completed the last 2 levels a minute and a half behind the time suggested. Just bringing these to the limit loses 3 minutes, bringing them down further saves even more.

Anyone else that has any suggestions, feel free to comment! Let's bring this game to the leaderboards

So, I did a run this afternoon, and shed a ton of time (ended at 2:18:39.3, whoop Giants is fastest game), and I'll list how I did this run:

-My main Skylander switched from Spyro to Drill Sergeant, who can deal much more damage in a shorter space of time, as well as having a decently fast dash move. I did not switch at all up until Molekin Mountain, where I used Tree Rex for the Giant skip in Crystalsong mine. I know now that the Drill-X fight at Chapter 11 can be done with Drill Sergeant (2 reps in phase 3 however, but the same as with a Giant). Because of the increased damage, I was over 3 minutes ahead of my best time at Chapter 15 (12 minutes ahead of split at that point), and the rest of the levels were all completed in the time limit. -In Chapter 4, I did a different strategy to the old run; I stayed with Drill Sergeant the whole chapter, fought Chance and used the cannon for the prison sequence - saved approximately 20 seconds. -Drill Sergeant also clears Arena Battles much faster due to the damage output - saved a lot of time there.

Bar: Set

Hoping to film a run soon as well

So, another run, another PB: this time 2:17:25.4 RTA, and I didn't need to switch the whole run (used Drill Sergeant the whole run). Completed all levels in time and really enjoyed the run. If I was able to juice a little more time out of the run, I reckon I could achieve around 2:15/2:16. Ways for me to improve the run:

-The Planer Plateau section in Wilikin Village was awful, took me about 4 tries to get the bomb, was really bad. However, the Chompy Mage fight was far better than other times. -Sticking with Chapter 7 again, I made a mistake in the Skystones game against Rutherford that left me losing the game 4-5, so that was around 40 seconds lost.

Other than that, struggling to find other improvements.

So people, today I found a MAJOR time save for this game. I went to Auric's store and bought Lock Puzzle Keys and Skystones cheats. This definitely makes not switching faster in every instance.

For those interested, here are the numbers that back my buying:

Skystones Cheats: x4 for Cutthroat Carnival (Fangs, Chance, Bandit, Dreadbeard) x1 for Wilikin Village (Rutherford), x1 for Kaos' Kastle (Butterworth), x1 for Molekin Mountain (Quick Draw) TOTAL: 7

Lock Puzzle Keys: x4 for Secret Vault of Secrets (all vaults + re-directing power), x3 for Troll Home Security (to get the bombs and to progress), x1 for Drill-X's Big Rig (to unlock the bounce pads to get to Drill-X himself TOTAL: 8

Since a Skystones game is ~45 seconds, and using the cheat takes ~2-3 seconds, I save around 5 minutes, and the lock puzzle keys save another minute and a half, I could get this run below 2:10, but I imagine I'll peak there.

OK, I did a run today, and using the cheat and lock keys, I reduced enough time to finish with a 2:08:29.9 RTA. I was very pleased and things went a lot better than other runs. But with Drill Sergeant dying at the end, I can still improve this by a bit.

So, I am trying to run this game with a Giant to see if it saves time, and I am also routing a three star all levels category. Will be able to film a run next week.

Well, I was trying switching starts today, and I can save 10 seconds between Chapters 1/2 by starting with Spyro, then switching to Tree Rex and moving on mid switch. This means I can switch to Drill Sergeant and going back and forth and still saving time. Like I said, will be filming next Friday.

I was on TEH URN earlier (4mins ahead), but a few factors meant I achieved only a 2:09:31.5, so I will look to improve those points. I think the switching definitely works well in building up an early time advantage, so I think I'll stay with that. I also ordered Stealth Elf earlier, so maybe that might help things.

England

Still waiting for my Stealth Elf to come, but I think another way to save time would maybe be to get the charms and set all Luck-O-Tron wheels to power, so that might save a bit. I am also looking into getting Drobot, which might reduce a bit of time thanks to its attacks.

Stealth Elf came yesterday, and its safe to say that in the run tomorrow (video will be on my youtube channel) will use Stealth Elf and Tree Rex a lot of the way. She just does so much damage in such a short amount of time its crazy. Im also looking at a possible attempt of Spyro's Adventure. But yeah, run will be up tomorrow. HYPE

So, in the hopes of bringing some response, I completed a Giants run (found at https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLeD6Q4sgSQbVUKP8EG-34Nm_syeI08PTB ) in 2:00:34, which is insane. However, I guarantee that I could have gotten below 2 hours. If anyone has any strats to share, let's here 'em. I'd really like to get a route going for this, to make it more accessible.

Hi! I've currently got the game requested, and when it pops up, I could definitely appreciate some competition! Do you need tips or anything, or just want a full run?

England

So i'm looking to speed run this game and have been for a while. I'll stream attempts on twitch if anyone is interested. I'm not sure how far i can push myself but hopefully i can get a solid pb. I'll start streaming tomorrow (24/03/17) and then see where i go from there :)
