Yo! Ive been thinking about bringing everything to 1 place, with that maybe getting more ppl to dive into other cats and even stack those who are playing almost the same cat.
Right now we have 6 slots on main.
- Newgame (PC)
- Newgame (Console)
- Any% (PC)
- Any% (Console)
- Newgame+ (PC)
- Newgame+ (Console)
All these with tabs like LAS/CAS/LAH/CAH and etc. + 120/60 and a Platform filter. All these tabs are perfectly fine but by stacking cats in, we can give more use for the Platform filter, having less stuff to click on. So the way im suggesting is...
- Newgame
- Any%
- Knife Only
- Pistol Only
- True Ending
- DLCs
All these with the same exact tabs we have right now! by this, we would burn newgame+ and pls those who run dont take this personal, but we usually just run straight and do medallions. (ive runs on ng+ so thats why i have this opinion)
Ok, so we would have Newgame for example, having both Console and PC runs on it, where ppl running on Console can just use the tab (60) and put the console using the Platform filter. With this we can have all in one, and being easier to find how ppl are dealing with the runs and etc. And by having more in one place, we can "maybe" put everything in 1 page and burn CE.
Well this is just my honest opinion on this, as by playing other cats like always, i see ppl getting confused to find some runs and understanding how other runs work because we have so many cats.

(EDIT) People are asking me how things would work exactly. ive got this image, its straight forward. If people from console dont wanna be on the same tab as PC, we create a tab for PC/Console, but NOT another CAT.
(EDIT2) The main thing here is that we have 3 cats getting 6 slots on main page cuz PC/Console thing, when it could be just tabs and open these slots for other cats and maybe if ppl see these on the main page they will know they exist and start running them.
(EDIT3) No need to kill NG+ if we have 7 slots, just said that cuz i thought we only had 6 and tbh its the less appealing.
all this by not killing console, i repeat, not killing console tab for console? filter? both would work fine, like i said, just believe we should get more space for other cats in 1 page in a way to help them grow and make the game even more interesting and relevant for the speed community
There's even space for a ng+ tab too, since any% is taking so much space right now, you can easily have 7 tabs there without looking too clustered. (Wow what a timing by the way, I wonder why mods suddenly start caring about any% 4Head).
I think this is a fantastic suggestion, Igor. Thank you for posting! I hope this post gains traction and the community (and mods) will be willing to examine this seriously as a possible option.
I think the lack of visibility for category extensions is unfortunate and this would be a good solution for elevating those individuals. I also ran NG+ and have no issue with discarding that category if necessary.
In a similar fashion to the GL tool's use in the RE3 forums, I hope that we can have a productive and fruitful discussion about this. The voices of the runners were heard and addressed appropriately and professionally. And the mods role, as representatives of those individuals, were to execute the will of the speedrunners within that community.
I would also suggest to change "Any%" to "Glitched", calling it "Any%" may mislead newcomers into thinking it's one of the "main" categories, since it's traditionally the main cat for most games out there, and in the context of RE2R it's a pretty niche category. Even people from inside the community already showed confusion towards this name before.
Here's the issue I have with this though: wouldn't this mean that every Console runner who's in the Top 4 of a Console category would lose their "records"/"bracelet"? Like, instead of showing up in 2nd place at Claire A Standard Console he would show up 53 place in Claire A Standard (for instance)? The same would happen for people playing PC 60 FPS.
If the change you're suggesting was how we were doing things from the beginning, I would not have a problem with it. And I agree that it is more practical than having that many tabs. However, I feel like not only me, but a lot of other Console runners put a lot of effort in their respective categories (coming up with strats, dedicating time to the game etc.) so they could show up in those Top 4 positions, and it wouldn't be really fair to take this away only for this practical reason, in my opinion.
If what I'm saying is not a consequence of your suggestion, then please disconsider this post.
I'm gonna just come out and say it... no. Here's why
What you're asking is a complete overhaul of the boards, we don't just wave a magical wand and poof everything is moved. we would have to go in and change variables and move EVERY run (including obsolete runs) over one run at a time. There's literally 371 runs including obsoleted runs on Leon A 120FPS PC alone. doing that to all the runs.....
Filters - We did use filters at one time in the beginning but a lot of people got mad so we had a discussion to take them away.
Getting rid of NG+ and CE - I don't see the reason to get rid of a very popular category... a lot of people run it and plan on running it so i don't understand why you wanna get rid of that. Completely burning a category is not something that's taken lightly. As for the CE boards, It's fine where it's at. Moving them over to the main board changes nothing. Those runs are an extension of the board there still apart of Re2.
Combining Console and PC run together would not be fair for anyone (mainly console runners) They put in all this hard work and grind the game down as much as they can. Console categories are already "unfair" with the base console having to run against the Pro/oneX lets not screw them over even more by putting them on PC.
@morelan , yes, ppl from console might lose some of their ranks since they ll be running against ppl on PC. BUT NixIssues for example runs 120 with a controller and have some good times on knife only, even running against ppl on PC, so tbh i dont know how much unbalanced is PC60 over Consoles despite using a controller for this suggestion be an unnecessary change. If the difference happens to be BIG, of course it should stay appart from PC, but i would recommend, instead of a filter, a Console TAB for it, not a whole new CAT.
@YossyHop its alright, it was just a suggestion and i understand the mods have info we might dont have when dealing with leaderboards. Don't believe theres a reason for anyone to get mad at anything, its not like im writing the law here os smth. By the end of the day, you mods and the community do as yall see fit, its okay.
Who are these people who got mad about filters? Everytime a suggestion is made to the mods the default answer is "it's been discussed/people didn't like it", but we never get to know who these people are. A discussion could be made right now, why not take the chance instead of being dismissive as always?
Why is glitched being called any% considering is super confusing for people, since it's a very niche category as Vinev stated?
Who gets to decide CE is fine as it is? Should we not have any voice as a community? The idea would not eliminate CE but instead have everything here on the main boards making it much easier, it's worth at least a discussion.
Could we take a vote for this kind of change? Or even a vote for the console integration into the pc boards (in certain cases)? If the population wants change/ no change then we can know for sure by a poll.
Maybe we spend too much time debating amongst ourselves when we should get some more opinions in the form of a vote
I’m disappointed in your response. The swiftness of it makes it seem as though there was no real careful consideration or opportunity for a conversation to be had.
If your decision to deny the conversation is predicated on the fact that it would be too much work, then perhaps give the responsibility of mod to somebody who would be willing to take on that work? I recognize the challenge for one mod to do all the work, but don’t we have five mods? Delegating the work amongst you all should make the job more manageable if that is the will of the community.
I was unaware of the filter not being successful- can you explain what made people upset?
I didn’t even know that the CE boards existed until several months of speedrunning. I don’t know if others had a similar experience. As far as NG+, this was my first category I ran, so I would dislike removing it as well, but I have flexibility.
If Base consoles are running against Pro/1X and there is a known disadvantage, why are they grouped together? And how exactly would this be different by grouping Pro/1X with 60FPS?
Well said Michelle, especially that last sentence, why is that the case? That's a compelling case against the current boards as they are.

@mondomantra i understand, if we can put 7 cats and ng+ as one of them, sure, why not? I said about putting it aside starting from the point we only have 6 slots and if we had to put other cats in CE for this to happen. i dont believe it would be a great idea cuz all other cats require a bit more work imo.
About the "yo things should exist cuz i got wr/good times and put effort on it" , we should go for what michelle said and be more flexible in order to make things better for everyone. But again, if isnt going to be the best for everyone, of course it should be talked through.
I think what you guys are proposing is only a marginal improvement of a situation I don't see many people complaining about (I might be wrong here though, and if I am I'm sorry). There are a lot of categories, but they are organized "well enough". It's not hard to find what you're looking for, and especially not hard compared to other games which are this popular and have a lot of categories (like Mario 64 for instance).
So in this sense I get the "it's too much work" argument. If what Igor brought up was a serious problem I would be all for the change (even though I would lose some records) and I would not consider the amount of work needed to solve it really an impediment. But I don't think that's the case here. I do agree though that this can easily be solved by talking with the community and seeing if the majority thinks it's a real issue.

I agree with Michelle that one problem with the current way of organizing things is Pro Consoles being on the same page as Base Consoles. And there's no excuse to keep 60 FPS PC apart from Pro Consoles with that being the case. If people want to put 60 FPS PC with Consoles I would not oppose (120 FPS, however, is another entirely different beast).

Just a reminder that the main goal with the suggestion is to have everything in 1 place, for it to be easier to everyone and maybe bring more ppl in by having a more simple way to show how things go.
Is there any reason why you're proposing a PC/Console tab instead of a 120 / 60 FPS tab though? I think the later express a more significant difference than the former. Like, 60 FPS and Console are closer to each other than 120 FPS and PC 60 FPS. So if we could keep some runs apart from each other and not on the same list, it would be better to keep 60 and 120 FPS runs apart, regardless of the platform in which the game is running.
That would also be better because future Consoles may be able to run the game at 120 FPS. And it would simply not be fair putting them on the same place as current Consoles.
