Minnesota, USAIntroduced in this patch is a change to the way the chapter timer works so that it no longer pauses during deaths, menus or cutscenes, aligning it with the way the file timer works.
Unfortunately this means once the patch is available on all platforms, most every IL will be wiped (only ch1 has no cutscenes so only ch1 deathless times will be comparable to the new patch) and a patch 1.2.1.0 or greater rule will be put in place on IL boards.
There currently is no rule regarding patch version.
As of right now, afaik, the newest patch isn't even available on all platforms due to limitations with pushing updates to console eshops. It's been less than a month since release and many things have changed as far as what's in various patches but once the version is finalized and available across all platforms that might change as the general consensus so far is leaning to using the most up to date version.
yeah they would for sure be under misc. but as far as I'm concerned the current all A sides that requires the 4 hearts that few run is enough, doubt there would be much demand for one that's just pure any% strats
actually the version in Newleste is a native C++ port of the original pico-8 LUA (I think for console reasons)
that said they're functionally identical as far as we know so yes, they're going on the old leaderboard
Since IGT is used a run that starts from a completed file would be a little weird.
An idea brought up was to use the unlock all cheat code, there would still be the handful of seconds of inputting that included in the start of the run but I think that would be the most elegant solution.
Here's how you do it: Enter the prologue and immediately run left to the room with your car. Without leaving this room, enter the following inputs-- Consoles: Left Right LT RT Up Up Down Left RT A Keyboard: Left Right Tab Z Up Up Down Left Z C
As of right now there ARE differences but that is because of the relative ease of pushing patches to PC vs consoles, soon enough they should all be on the same patch version and everything will be back to level playing field (unless something new is discovered)

I can't deny that things happened and life got in the way. I don't really want to turn this into explaining everything I've struggled with on a day to day basis for nearly 20 years now, so I'll just leave it at saying that it was best for everyone involved that I was not there.
Submissions have traditionally been left open until rather close to the marathon since we've always viewed it as less of a "attend if I get in" marathon and more of a "what can the people who will be coming run" sort of process. Also our submissions lists have historically been rather light. That being said I do agree that there should have been a lot more pre-event planning and now that there are more than just Myself and 1 other person actually interested in helping make the event actually happen rather than attending those kinds of scheduled, organised planning sessions can happen.
As far as setup and equipment goes, those were basically the main reason why the decision was made to call it off. Tony and I remember the headaches of the first year, we didn't want to simply thrust those onto people on such short notice. Between the two of us have all the gear that would have been used for the marathon (outside of the TGM stuff), including a MUCH better audio setup. Our gear library is, of course, not entirely complete. We could use better mics for the audio setup (proper headsets so runners can hear self/game clearly) and some kind of PA system for the in room audience (last year tony had borrowed one of these from a friend https://www.amazon.com/Fender-Passport-Conference-PA-System/dp/B00J4VTD04) but since we've never done any kind of fundraising this has all been out of pocket expenses for us
The room is just, well without us breaking free of 2Dcon I just don't see us ever really getting "our own" space. In 2015 the entire con (outside of a room no one knew existed) was in one space, I had a band playing a concert 40 feet from me during one of my runs. In 2016 we shared a space with the LAN gaming setup, which actually worked out pretty ok, the audio we picked up was mostly from the hall outside, rather than people in the room itself being too rowdy. With the audio gear I intended to use there would have still been the distraction element for the runners, but the stream itself would have sounded much cleaner.
That covers what I can really comment on from the OP, and I plan on making a new thread with regards to organizing things moving forward.
Everyone who came together to pick up the pieces I left behind did a fantastic job, you should all be proud of yourselves. It absolutely exhibited what I initially hoped the marathon to be, a community effort to have fun playing video games with a timer running. I hope moving forward that community energy can be used to help organize the event in a more horizontal fashion and less of a "seckstatorship"

Regarding normal sensible tech, I will be bringing back everything (TVs) we've grown to know and love from the Team Pup N Suds equipment library along with some new friends!
I upgraded to an actual analog sound mixer with some actual microphones that shouldn't pick up jubeat from down the hall! The setup still needs a few odds and ends, some pairs of headphones to use for the monitor and runners and some XLR extension cables to help with the setup.

Midwest Speedfest 2017 is happening August 11-13th through 2D Con! It's our third year, and we're excited to bring speedrunning marathons back to their roots of getting together, and having a good time while showing off some great runs. Here's some of the basics for event information:
When?: August 11th-13th Where?: Doubletree by Hilton Minneapolis 7800 Normandale Blvd Bloomington, MN 55439 Submission Form: http://www.speedrun.com/Midwest_Speedfest/submit Admission to 2D Con: $20 for scheduled runners, regular convention prices otherwise.
Something new this year: Local and Online submissions are accepted! We are looking at potentially outsourcing our overnight schedule to anyone that would like to run a game remotely. We are still giving precedence to our local speedrunners at the event, so this isn't a promise, but more of an option for those that would like to be involved from home!
The deadline for submissions is July 23rd. Schedule review and construction will be done in complete secrecy from high atop mount Pup N Suds.
