There are currently two glitches/tricks known in Kirby's Rampage: Shop Warp and Wall Vault. Shop Warp is where you start The Legend of Kirby and go to the shop, and immediately exit it. This warps you to the other shop's exit, where you can pick up the key to Ganondorf faster and beat the stage quickly. The second is Wall Jump, or Wall Vault. In Kirbyvania, there are two areas where you need to go down a few sets of stairs to get past a wall. The first wall can be jumped over, skipping a small segment of the stage. Those are the only ones that I know about, at least.
I might have found a glitch. For some reason, dying in the Gannon boss fight opens up the exit portal while also playing the death cutscene. I haven't tested it, but you might be able to skip the Gannon boss fight altogether by dying on the area where the portal spawns.
I tested it and Gannon Skip works! If you go into the Gannon fight with one (or maybe two) health points, you can just jump into Gannon before he moves and skip the entire boss fight! This could save a minute on pistol% runs!
Gannon skip might work for the death fight too, but It takes forever for death to be in the right position, so it might not be worth it.
I just tested Gannon skip on death and it may be the best way to go, at least for pistol% runs. I guess I'll just call it boss skip.
New glitch discovered: When touching the underside or side of the blocks in The Kirby level, or the brown bricks and question blocks in the Mario level, you can jump infinitely until you stop touching the block. This means that by spamming jump under one of these tiles, you can effectively hang and move around under them forever. It could also be used to gain extra height. There are no known uses for this glitch yet, but it might be useful for skips in the future.
New glitch discovered: with a precise jump to the left wall at the beginning of the Mario level, or at the beginning of the bowser arena, you can get on top of the boundary. moving left and jumping will, in the Mario level, keep you moving at the underside of the boundary, while in the bowser level, you will be eventually teleported back in bounds. this has no speedrunning purpose, it is still a glitch.
found out that you can perform Ganon Skip on Ganon, Death, King K. Rool, Tank Head, and possibly Vile. You can't perform it on King Dedede, due to the fact that he doesn't disappear upon death. You also can't perform it on Bowser, because he falls off the screen when killed, and again, doesn't disappear on death. I still have to test some stuff with Vile and Sakurai.
For Ganon, just jump into him with two health at his starting position. You need two health because Ganon deals contact damage very quickly, and the portal is just above where Kirby dies if he only has one health and jumps into Ganon.
For Death, you can get hit by either his contact damage, or his scythes. It's a bit risky to go into the fight with only one health, but it's still possible to do with just one health.
For King K. Rool, you need to get hit by his crown when he throws it, because the portal is too high for Kirby to hit if he dies from contact damage.
For Tank Head, just position yourself where the portal is, and wait for it to fire a missile. You need to die from the missile, because the actual boss doesn't move.
Overall, this was a major discovery for this speedrunning community. Thanks a ton, Master_Keeby!
It turns out that Kirby Kong Country is actually the most broken stage in the game. I was fooling around with the area transitions and it turns out that you can actually go over them! The first one is relatively easy, but there's some odd invisible walls on the second one. (the exit from the first one) It turns out that the shop is actually sandwiched between the two areas. If we could clip through the right of the shop wall back into the level, this might skip the portion of the level between the first shop door (which I guess should be called a shop portal) and the gateway to the next room. In addition, shop warp exists in this level too! Unfortunately, it's the second shop taking you to the first one. However, this can teach us some valuable information about shop warp. The Kirby Kong Country warp is most likely caused by there being only one shop, and so having one place to exit, but to entrances. this could mean that, if this shop warp remained undiscovered for a while, maybe others are too. One more thing. going over the boss entrance just softlocks you with a view of a little bit of the boss room. the fight doesn't start.
I found this out a while back but forgot to share it with the community. The Sakurai fight can be somewhat cheesed. As it turns out, the infinite jump glitch also works on the top right corner of the fight's arena. Simply hold right and spam jump like your life depends on it at the start of the fight. While this takes the difficulty out of the gameplay, It puts it onto your hands! Definitely don't do this If you're not going for the world record.
Also, minor thing, Gannon skip can be performed at 1 health, and that's actually how I did it when I discovered the glitch! It's a lot more finicky however, and might have something to do with the fact that, (I'm pretty sure) Kirb's hitbox is determined by his sprite. Or it's just a circle. Who knows? I usually get it at 1 health by double jumping right before I hit Gannon.
This isn't a glitch, but I feel like this is the place to post it. I tried fighting bowser with the AK-47 and was about 2x faster than the WR. I'm sure that the shotgun is better for bosses where all three bullets can hit at once, but the AK might be better for the first two levels, or at least IL runs.
Minor thing, but in the end of Kirbyvania, If you jump over the wall, you can get on top of the shop in the level, and past that is the arena. I'm still testing it further, but you might be able to go over and past the arena!
EDIT: Nope. you can't.
Hmm... the AK-47 thing sounds interesting, but you'd probably have to spend more time grinding for coins to buy it. I'll post my findings later (if I remember to).
By the way, I did know about the second shop in Kirby Kong Country sending you to the first one, I just didn't end up saying anything because it wasn't particularly relevant to speedrunning. When I did find out about that, I tested the other shops too. None of them besides Legend of Kirby and Kirby Kong Country actually do anything different.
hi. if you hold right and jump on the right wall on the final boss, you can infinitely jump, making the boss a tad bit easier. (EDIT) sorry, i didn't read all of the posts, and i thought it wasn't found
