In a really good run I had I accidentally spawned a Rancher somehow. Would the run still be valid if an accidental cheat was used. In case this would to happen again ofc.

This has been discussed a lot in twitch chats when it happens and #GTA a few times, think this is the first time it is mentioned on the forums so it opens up what people think.

IMO a cheat is a cheat so it should make the run invalid however most of the cheats people enter is weather or car spawn cheats (no real gameplay advantage). So should it be allowed or not? Of course I don't think it does so it's up to you to continue the run or reset.

I know it really sucks when you're far in a run and you accidentally enter a cheat because of the stupid WASD placement. I know when I've seen a few runners enter a cheat during a run and just out right said "I'm not submitting this" if it is a pb for them.

Yea. I asked this question because I realized there was differing opinions on it. Ironically this was on Xbox so it's even more ridiculous that it happened.

I am indifferent to it. I once entered a WASD cheat during a run and had no intention of submitting if it was PB, but if someone else really wanted to (Haworth, hint hint) then I don't think I'd reject just yet. There are easy PC workarounds too but for Xbox I have no idea.

RunnerHAWORTH is verified second place on the SA 100% category while having activated the sunny weather cheat on accident. You could argue that he might have had an advantage because of the good weather, although I don't think it mattered.

Hmm I realize it's spam and all, but bonus points for relevancy.

If people would really disagree on this, you could always temporarily use another keyboard lay-out to prevent it when playing SA, like AZERTY. (unless I'm stupid and that doesn't help)

If haworth's run was accepted, i don't see any reason not to verify other runs who did the same thing, as long as it's a weather or spawn cheat, useless things like that to the run that arent really used.

Runs with WASD cheats had been accepted as a "we don't care about your non-WR run having these kind of cheats". HAWORTH's run is one of these, that I would personally not verify, and was also submitted before any real discussion was had on the topic, so it's grandfathered in.

Fact is, a cheat is a cheat, and cheats are not allowed. Even the tiniest things such as spawning a Quad can affect your run, as it can have an effect on the cars in memory, determining traffic spawns. Weather also has an impact, ie visibility of the road, rain physics, car spawns maybe?

The cheat may be accidental, but entering the wrong combination of WASD by accident is a choke just like pressing the wrong buttons on Vertical Bird can send your plane into the water/rocks. It just with a bit more dire consequences.

Cheats are cheats, if runs that have an accidental cheat activated would be accepted, then someone would just eventually start abusing that and give themselves an advatange in situations like driving in the rain in photo opportunity. So no,it really sucks when it happens (it has happened to me a couple of times on decent runs, i know that feel :P )but i don't think it should be allowed.

Also i don't get what you mean by "choke" when there's many different combinations of WASD cheats that can be entered, if you're gonna focus on not trying to enter a accidental cheat, you will just end up making tons of mistakes.

Many different combinations of WASD cheats means you're only more likely to choke and press the wrong combination. Not getting accidental cheats is something an SA runner needs to deal with. If they can't, then they should probably find a different game.
