Using Vault Save
Actualizado 1 year ago por ChrisUMB

In order to use vault save, you need to acquire the splits file provided in the resources section, "Glitchless [VAULT]". You can take this splits file and modify the name in it to whatever category you want to run. The purpose of this split file is to set it up so that it starts when loading a save named "vault", and will also start with exactly 29.25 seconds on the timer, which is the length of the vault demo. This splits file requires you to use at least version 3.2.3.3 of 2838's SourceSplit plugin for LiveSplit.

You can obtain the latest version of 2838's SourceSplit plugin from: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1HAlTbF91NEzJVgzpmxlwhjv7JEZZGCAK?usp=sharing

Then, you need to download the official vault save from the resources section. This vault save was created exactly 29.25 seconds into the intro dialogue inside the vault, with no inputs done.

Then you need to get the speedrun demorecord plugin used in standard Portal 1.

In game, go into the console, and type speedrun_save vault. Then, you can do speedrun_start. After it loads, go into the console, and type load vault. From this point your run is live and you can continue with your run. Theoretically, you could set up a speedrun bind that looks something like: "bind <key> speedrun_start;wait 100;load vault".

Once you have completed a run that you would like to post, you will submit all of the demos, but only use rickychamber_intro_1.dem, NOT rickychamber_intro.dem. In order to know that your demo file, the one ending in _1, is not broken in some way, you should be able to take the time of that demo and add 29.25s to it, and that should equal your split time.
