Skirmish Times?

Would it be possible to add a section for beating AI in skirmish matches, I know it might have a wide range of times as there's maps with additional enemies and also difficulties, but I was hoping this was a thing as I would be interesting in running said idea. I know I'm not known in this speedrunning community so I understand if my idea is turned down, thanks in advance for reading and if this idea is open for discussion, that would be awesome!

With so many variables, it'd be pretty exhausting to make a comprehensive leaderboard for that. If that's a fun idea for you, by all means, you can do that, but I don't think this would be the place to host a leaderboard for that

thats fair enough, it is something I may still work on for content :) I was thinking it'd only need Map + Difficulty added as a Leaderboard but I understand how it could get exhausting

Well, it'd probably need Map + Difficulty + Player army + AI Army which quickly spirals out of control

I came here woth a same idea. Hello guys. What if there will be a rule that both player and AI should be random army and enemy should be on hard and map should be Alpline assault or other map (or create leaderboard if someone made a run of that map. Otherwise leave it as it is) that has large variety of strategies to attack? That would be fun and I'm down to speed run that. There will be lots of ways to optimise the run and lots of strategies. And plus it's not like hour long, so you could do multiple runs in one go.

I'm down to speedrun that and compete against someone for world record.

What do you think?

By making it random army for both, the majority of the grind will involve restarting the match in order to roll the dice and get the best possible outcome. That's a waste of time.

restarting doesn't take a long time. also timer starts when gentool starts counting it (in-game time).

yep. randomized runs are entertaining. take a look at minecraft speedruns. everything is random there. or even at 2048 speedruns. they do start over and over to get the best possible one.

In generals I think rushing towards the hard AI in the start will work, if you are against non-gla army. because gla is building defences fast and you cannot sneak a worker or a dozer in their base. if you are against china then infatry is produced faster than usa ai. so you have to crush them with your dozer or find a spot where their infatry is nowhere around.

I have been speedrunning in my university or/and at home when I am tired and when I want to blow off steam (usually after work). Restarting the game doesn't take like a bunch of time. Also sometimes skills are not enough. luck is also needed. I am sitting and trying to find ways to beat the ai faster than I did in my past one. my pb was 5 minute i think.

I am 100% down to post my speedruns if you will create that category.

I am hungry

oh sorry. *infantry XD

i will work ok ok i will work you change your mind often

Minecraft rng is different though, ain't it? It has a ton of different parameters and the runner has to adapt to the situation and make the best of what they get.

With this, you would have a seed of 1/12 and it's either a run or a reset. There's no adapting, since one opponent is always going to be the fastest, so the others are never worth playing. Doing ~10 resets until you get to even start a run is just stupid. What I'm saying is; at that point just drop the random out and let the player choose the factions.

Making seperate boards for all of these options would be a mess, if not outright impossible. I'd go with one skirmish board that has all the runs, with variables for player race, opponent race, map and difficulty. Probably set things like game speed and starting money as predefined in the rules.

I think you should join the discord, make your case there and show some of your runs. Maybe it's a good idea for a board, maybe not, I don't really know

Good point there. I agree with you. Random or choosing, either way it should be fun to do it. Ok. I will record some runs and show it off on discord as you said. Yeah this should be challenging and competitive

You missed my point. Restarting doesn't take a long time, but it will be the MAJORITY of it because you're rolling dice waiting for the right combination. Why follow through on a bad roll when I can reset until I get the one I want?

So why even make it random? It's a waste of time.

Ok. Fair enough. Then player should be able to choose whatever ay they want and they all will be in one leaderboard. I will do the demo speedrun when I will get some free time today. And will post it in the rts speedrun discord channel that's in the "resources" tab

Turkmenistan

I will do both. Random army speedrun and non-random army speedrun. So you can see which is best. And i will post both of them to discord. I am currently in project contest

Turkmenistan

ok. now discord link is invalid it says

Turkmenistan

if skirmish times won't be added, I will learn speedrunning campaign. Thank you everyone

The C&C discord link should work: https://discord.gg/u5BTtaX

We could always use more campaign speedrunners. I think the guides are a bit outdated, but if you need help getting started just ask

Turkmenistan

thank you! see you in discord!
