New Category Submission: Nile's Bat Heist

Hello! My name is Nile (nilejoanrivers on twitter and discord and everywhere)

I came up with a new speedrun format for mtga that I would love to see added to the website. It has gained a lot of popularity recently and many people have asked for me to get it added here. Here is the original tweet with the base rules: https://x.com/NileJoanRivers/status/1752136623616065816?s=20

Here are all of the rules which I have expanded as this has grown:

  1. Your starting deck must contain only 4 Deep-Cavern Bats and 56 Swamps
  2. You play in Standard (ranked or unranked, maybe separate categories for each?) Best-of-one
  3. Whenever you exile a card with Deep-Cavern Bat you may add 1x copy of that card to your deck after the game
  4. If your opponent removes your bat in response to the trigger (meaning nothing ever goes 'under' the bat) then you get no cards.
  5. If you manage to 'steal' a Deep-Cavern Bat with your Bat, then you have the choice to add 1x Aclazotz, Deepest Betrayal to your deck
  6. Your deck may contain any number of any basic lands after the first game
  7. You win the run once you win a game

Identifying when you've won can be tricky, here are some guidelines:

  1. If your opponent concedes before you had them in a position where you definitely win, that doesn't count
  2. If it is obvious that you are up against another Nile's Bat Heist deck, that win doesn't count (but stolen cards do!)
  3. In general you need to use your best judgement about the spirit of what constitutes a true victory for the run

Feel free to reply here or dm me on any of the platforms listed above if you have further questions

Thanks!

NOTE: Technically, I almost managed to solo a guy with a Surge Engine @ about 27m, but they scooped on me just as I was about to attack them. I guess he knew what I was up to.

All star of this deck: surge engine, hands down!

Really fun idea for a format!
