Note or anything known?

So I'm interested in maybe running the game, is there any notes or things I should know about if I decide to do it?

Sweden

There's nothing really to mention, just play like you do casually but try be fast. So do the objectives as fast as you can and make use of all your weapons. Though if you have more questions just let me know, I'm always down to help!

Thanks for the info, when I get a chance ro play the game I'll keep that in mind.

United States

Also is there any good setups or things like that I should know about?

Sweden

No, as far as I know there isn't. Though I haven't looked into strats or routed the game, so I can't really say. If you've beaten the game casually, you basically know everything you need.

United States

Haven't played it yet, but I'm usually running or routing gamed on console so just trying to think about what I might need to think about for PC. (It looked interesting so picked it up on Steam Sale since the Switch version was like $30 USD. Still. )

United States

Okay, after playing a bit of the game using survival mode I can get behind doing speed run of it . Although that means I'm going to have to look up how to delete the files so I can keep doing things from a fresh campaign if that's what's needed if there's no way to start from a fresh thing . But yeah I can see some possibilities.

United States

Although for what it's worth the person I picked up on Steam is the complete edition so I don't know if there's a difference or not .

Sweden

The Complete Edition is most recent updated version of the game. When starting the game you can choose to play the older Original Edition, which is a bit different but I don't see why you would want to do that. So just select to play Complete Edition.

United States

That's good to know, also can I just say how hard some of the prepare to die missions are when trying to play casually and going fast. Haven't made it that far in but some are just a pain.

United States

So according to some info the complete edition includes the DLC. Not sure if that's part of the main campaign or not yet so don't know if it adds anything or not mission wise

@ominij is existing to the main menu to change frame rate allowed as long as you go back to the same mission if not playing from a fresh game file? This is of course not changing the difficulty when continuing. Asking since I can support 144fps and since I'm also looking at normal and Prepre to die as categories I can think of at least 1 level where changing it might effect things.

Sweden

I don't see any problem with that. Though I'm curious why changing it affect things, and what is it that changes?

United States

The speed at which thr game runs. As there's a few missions that can be a lot harder on higher frame rate at least for myself . So it's one of those things where you can deliberately make it a bit slower and thus a bit more controllable .

United States

@ominij, I thought I should let you know I'm still planning on do a a run of the game. I'm almost through episode 2 on my casual playthrough on Prepare to Die mode and for the most part I haven't really needed to shift to normal or casual to beat a mission with a few exceptions.

I have found some things rooting wise which should be interesting. On the bird of piece fight I did test dropping the framerate and that actually does seem to make the fight a little bit easier although it's still a pain. Though I also think I might finally get how the devs want player's to keep lock one when turning although I need to double check it. But basically turning the other direction away from something as it's going by and using the 180° button. (Still need to test that but it feels like that might be something. )

Anyway I thought I'd give you an update on things.

Sweden

Sounds good! I actually didn't know there was an 180 button, I will try it out next time I play.

United States

@ominij I'm playing complete edition so I think it's still be there on any other version . But yeah it's one of those buttons that you need to actually swap off of an analog stick if I recall correctly . I actually have it in to one of my face buttons just because you want to use it so much here and there for moving.

United States

@ominij. I will say after doing a bit of a test run for act 1 or normal offline I can honestly say that the run will have some interesting tech for each difficulty because of things. Fun fact though having the ability to buffer some inputs while the game is loading is useful. Also Mission 8 against the Patriot the entire 2nd phase is basically going to be real easy on every difficulty but Prepare to Die mode. (Fun fact taking the few seconds to mission restart puts you right next to it and with buffering inputs you can set up to start the damage quickly.

United States

I have been taking some notes although I've got to make sure that they're a bit more readable for others before I post them in the guide section . But some of them are pretty interesting for strategies .

Oh, I did find a couple of times where I could clip in to things but nothing major except for clipping in to some rocks to save a few seconds in 1 mission and getting stuck inside something nearly costing me a mission. Though I could see something useful depending on the game checking for things in 1-2 missions but modt likely won't help there.

(Edit, typo and added more.)

Very interesting stuff, I'm looking forward reading your notes when they're ready! This will definately be helpful for me in the future.
