I am amazed at @GTAce99 and his determination! Its not every day you tie a TAS in an RTA run! I was there watching many of his attempts and am so happy for him that he has achieved his goal, and what a goal that was. I would not be surprised if someone does not tie his record for 1-2 year(unless strat is found which seems unlikely) I am placing my bet on 2 ; } So I just want to say good job and for everyone to take a few seconds from the amazing runners miniland and niftski to understand this guys accomplishment.
His run is really impressive and congrats to him on getting it, but you don't need to make a forum thread for every single thing that happens. Congratulate him on Discord or Twitter or wherever else, but making a thread is just a waste of time.
I only made a post because it is a big accomplishment. I would not have posted it otherwise. Just like if you tie the TAS in Any% or warpless. These are the only three I would post on anyway. They are just important and hard categories. The others are hard, but they do not get enough attention. Thanks for the feed back.
he tied the TAS in the 5-4 category which means all of the fpg's and fast excels and wall clips etc. were all executed perfectly! it only took him 8 months... actually i think it took a lot longer.
Actually, while GTAce did tie all the TAS framerules, he didnt tie the TAS itself, the only time lost between GTAce's run and the TAS was GTAce's lack of a fast accel in 5-4, which could've saved up to 5 frames if executed perfectly
A TAS can (barely) save an extra framerule in 5-3 (even without L+R):
You need a double fast-accel at the start and TAS pole inputs (L, nothing, R, L+A, nothing, R) to save this without L+R, so I don't think any human is going to pull this off anytime soon. (For some reason, normal "L, L, L, L+A" pole inputs gives you R20, i.e. one frame short of the framerule.)
(If we additionally allow L+R, a TAS could save one more framerule in 1-2 as well.)
As impressive as the run is, I don't think Beat 5-4 is a category worth celebrating, especially not in a forum post. No one needs to understand this accomplishment or anything. Also it took me like a day of attempts not 8 months of straight grinding. I'm happy that your excited about the run and happy for me but starting this thread was very unnecessary. I'll be locking it.
Any% (NTSC) runs below 4:57.000 must now fulfill additional requirements in order to be verified.
- The run's full session must be included in the submission description.
- For emulator runs below 4:57.000, some form of input display must be visible for the duration of the run. A hand-cam or input
