Hello Im a young fan of cave story (18 years old) but i really want to run this game So i have some questions et proposition How can i train the speedrun without guides and streams (the english is not my maternal languages)? You use a discord for communicate? And for my proposition:
- Time boss rush (i see but not on the firdt page)
- Time sanctuary
- Mimiga's end (stupid but its a end)
- 100% (machine gun or snake or spur)(nemesis)(bubbles)(booster v2)(the arm protection)(and all the items drop on boss like ironhead or the boss in last cave)(heart and missiles)
- low % (polar star, no booster ect ect) And can we create a discord server for this speedrun play? Thanks a lot and sorry for massacre your languages x)
Discord: https://discord.gg/ksNyRY9 Which platform are you playing Cave Story on? If it is the free version, please direct to https://www.speedrun.com/cave_story . If you are on switch or steam, there isn't as many runners running those versions, but some tricks are still in it. The most notable trick is "Chaco Skip" in bushlands. Use this video with annotations as guidance, however if you are playing on cave story+ you'll need the map system, check world record for more guidance.
As for categories, it isn't really ideal to add them if nobody's done one yet. That being said: Sue ending is "Normal Ending" Kazuma ending is "Bad Ending" Curly ending is "Best Ending" Also, the reason boss attack isn't on the main board is because it is a level, so more fitting for a level leaderboard.
I would watch the agdq run of this game for a guide I forget what/if they explain things but it's what I used when I started running this game
