Ok, so this may be a warm take but as someone who typically doesn’t enjoy boss fights in their 3D platformers, I think that the boss fights in Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg are really enjoyable.  Yes, even you Topo, my favourite unskippable cutscene.  It might be because I think a lot of them look cool and the music is a major bop but I also enjoy that most of these fights are quite involved without causing too much stress.

But there is one boss fight in the game that stands out amongst the rest because this boss is completely different from the others and the properties that make it stand out make it easily the most memorable boss fight in the speedrun.  Today, I am talking about the boss of Blizzard Castle, Moles.

Aside from the fact that this boss is clearly not a mole, Moles is unique for speedrunners because Moles is the only boss that is truly unpredictable and will reward players for smart decision making on the fly.  This is a luxury that the other boss fights don’t offer but  we will find out more about this soon so allow me to tell you why Moles is Billy Hatcher’s best boss fight.
