many people say dream coded hes speedrun. if he is that mean dream cheating. but dream has so many lose on manhunt then the win. so dream its not cheating. and i swear dream is not cheating
Just because someone's gotten very good at something doesn't mean they can't cheat. There's actually a video out there by Karl Jobst where he explains how top level players can actually be more likely to cheat... and, because they're better at the game, they're more likely to cheat convincingly.
I don't have anything against dream. I've never watched his videos, though if you're a fan of his, I don't blame you for wanting to defend him. In my opinion, the moderator's reasoning is sound.
Sometimes famous people cheat in speedruns and that's a fact of life ¯_(ツ)_/¯
Gestures towards Anti, ExoSDA, and TSA But yeah. Manhunt is not speedrunning, so his performance there is no evidence. He wasn't cheating at that.
As nice as it is to believe in our favorite runners, it doesn't work as proof. We've all trusted people who then do things they shouldn't--on a leaderboard, where proof is everything, one has to trust the numbers, not the rhetoric. We've seen the detrimental effect of following people blindly in politics...
Yeah even though Dream may be a good minecraft player, the reasoning of saying that he was cheating was the rng of the item drops, the numbers are too high to be considered unaltered. He may not have cheated for all we know but the numbers say that is extremely unlikely to the point where it is practically impossible.
Except that is the very problem. The numbers are too high. The numbers are ridiculously High. The numbers are so high they don't even match a cheat engine. You need to remember that when something sounds too good to be true then it likely is, in both directions.
You also need to remember Dream is banned from speedruning Minecraft Bedrock edition, with no explanation why even though he has never streamed or uploaded a video for bedrock.
When A statistic shows that something has a chance of 1 in 7 trillion, chances are someone doing the math fucked up. Now I am not saying that Geosquare has something against dream, but when your paper does not pass muster with the admins running this site and you go and post a video that is perfect for defaming someone famous who relies on their reputation, on top of only putting corrections to any "Mistaken" statements in the discription, that looks suspicious.
I'm sure someone can provide a better explanation than me, but the whole tl;dr is that Dream still cheated and that the Minecraft: Bedrock Edition mods do have an explanation for banning Dream (which I'm not going to get into).
Also you have to keep in mind that an entire team of statisticians worked together to produce these numbers, and, compared to Dream's anonymous, unnamed astrophysics who was commissioned from a website that was supposedly made two months ago, the team is surely more credible (at least, in my opinion).
Anyways, there's no point in arguing this to anyone. Most of the general speedrun.com community accepted the fact that Dream cheated, and some of us don't even speedrun Minecraft, let alone, know who Dream is. I think it's safe to say that most of us are either sick of this drama, or just don't care.
@Walgrey As someone who neither plays Minecraft in any capacity nor knows who Dream is, I'm glad for this drama, because it led to this masterpiece:
jazz
For the record, I've heard that the paper against Dream uses some inaccurate methods, leading to an inflated value. I've heard (don't quote me) that updated odds are now around 1 in 10 million, which is still exceedingly unlikely, so...
Honestly My Problem is literally just the Fact that Geosquare Uploaded the Video.
I don't care if Dream did cheat, that is something to be handled by the mods on this site as it effect them and their community. And they were handling it through proper channels. And then one of them Uploaded a Video to Youtube for What Reason? That is the part that get's me. Telling him that they could not accept the run because their were to many things wrong with the with it would not have caused this level of drama, at most Dream might have tweeted something like "My run was tossed out so I will have to try again later"
But Dream is a Youtuber. After dealing with damn near 4 years of people using Youtube to settle vendettas with people they do not like in the exact same manner I am of course gonna be more suspect of Geo. This all could of been settle by telling him "We require you to show fresh install of the game from now on," would have been the correct thing to do.
You do know that Dream's initial response was basically to whine, quit speedrunning, and let his fans start pestering the Minecraft mods, right?
@SoralTheSol, my problem with your argument is that you cant just expect them to deny his run and not give a public statement saying why they didn't except it.
i mean like with how big dream is people are going to want an explanation into their reasoning.
@PoleoGoleo, Soral's point that they were trying to make was that they uploaded the video without Dream's consent. If it wasn't a guaranteed 100% proof that they cheated like in this case, the individual should have to agree to have the video uploaded to the public. People can make news reports of robberies without the robbers' agreement since there's proof that it happened and that it's a bad thing/illegal thing so people are allowed to talk about it, however since it was mainly probability that was making Dream's runs to be illegitimate and that there wasn't sufficient evidence to say that the game was altered, it isn't 100% on whether he cheated or not so they still should've asked him if they could upload it.
Along time....It's pointless to argue with anyone about this. The majority of the speedrun.com community accepted Dream's cheating, even though some of us don't even play Minecraft, much alone know who Dream is. I believe it's reasonable to say that the majority of us are either weary of the drama or don't give a damn about it.
Dreams could be fake what else could go on in our heads while sleeping?
