If we have the OC version it will be it's own category with it's own Timing method (most likely) as the games memory can just be read. That procedure makes it 100% accurate. There is nothing we're delaying by doing that.

I myself would be fine with going both ways. But I'd tend for RTA. I'll explain both right here:

RTA: With RTA it would be a lot easier to handle for everyone. It's more convenient, we do not have to worry about timer inconsistencies and theoretically the whole game could be ran without a timer as from what I heard beating the game shows you your IGT which perfectly represents your RTA time. That way splicing could be prevented as well as the length of the video/a retiming of the run would be backed by the RTA timer. Retiming the runs would be long as well and we can probably expect to have a lot of runners. No matter how many moderators would be present, we can reasonably only retime up to 1 run per day if we were to do it very accurately. The only problem is the hardware difference, however my idea would be to at least split Pro and Base to let people be competitive. It would not be fair to require people doing a up to 400$/€ investment to be competitive looking at it realistically it will take no longer than 1-2 weeks until Base Runners can not reasonably catch up anymore. A harddrive investment isn't as big as decent SSDs can easily be bought for 50-60$/€, but that way we'd have it split into two consoles and can keep it competitive for a huge majority of runners.

Loadless: Going Loadless opens up different possibilities, but also causes some problems. The biggest one is that once we get a lot of run submissions, which would be foolish to not expect that, we will have a gigantic backlog no matter the amount of moderators we have. To prevent that, we'd have to be able to get a perfect loadremover that cause no issue whatsoever. However Loadless would allow us to keep competition on one board for every single runner. Everyone would be on the same playing field, has the same chances for WR and we'd have Base+HDD competing with Pro+SSD. That's about as much positives as I can come up with personally though. Thank you for reading, I'll edit this message if I can think of more.

My advice would be use the Japanese layout. Like that you can slide your finger from X to O and then input one more O input for another hit. You should also learn to time every single air combo hit, that helps immensly

Lower Saxony, Germanydesa4 years ago

Ok, we have to clarify:

If we were to go with RTA we would definetely split Pro and Base to make it more fair, the only investement to make would be an SSD Harddrive which you can easily get for 50-70 bucks.

We are currently considering whether Demo speedruns should be kept on the main leaderboards as a Miscellaneous category, or if they should instead be moved to a Level Leaderboard section that is separate from the main leaderboards. Please share any thoughts you might have. This thread will be kept open until one week before the game releases, so you'll have ample time to make your voice heard.

If you want to voice your opinion annonymously you can do this in the google form linked here: https://forms.gle/2Fy8cWP3ezvGerSM9

Hi 👋 I decided that to not let the hype for this game die out and keeping people interested in this (Or at the very least the demo) that we should maybe have a little Demo% Normal Mode tournament! Hyper, Ffamran, BigSid and I put one up on challonge for that! It will be Double Elimination Best-of-3 (Best-of-5 starting with Semi-Finale) and we want to start this on 22nd of March, which is exactly a week from now on. You do not need to have any experience with FF7R Speedrunning or Speedrunning in general to participate! If you want to join in just sign up on the link that will follow and you're good to go. BigSid and I will take care of the balancing of the rounds so that it becomes as fair as possible. It also doesn't matter which hardware you're using, we'll either use a Loadremover or put a small penalty on faster hardware. Base+HDD will be the benchmark for that option, but we'll still decide on which one to go with. Races will also be scheduled by the runners themselves. We want to finish the tournament within 2.5 weeks, but we think with how short the run is that should easily be manageable.

We hope to see a lot of you there and hope to you are having fun with it, no matter if you watch this or participate

Just realised my 2nd point might be unclear as well: Splitting them means to have another category like Ps3 and Ps4, keeping them on one board means to have Xbox and Ps4 in the same tab.

Lower Saxony, Germanydesa4 years ago

I guess I should add the differences as well, I'll do it as a seperate post to make sure people who already voted it are reading it as well. The reason this is up for debate in the first place is that the XBox One Version is able to skip the opening cutscene and saves ~3:10 right of the bat. That's what this is all about.

Keeping PS4 and XBox One all on one board

Lower Saxony, Germanydesa4 years ago

Hello everyone!

Now that KHFM has been on XBox for a while and no patch has happend for the PS4 version we wanted to let you guys voice your opinion on what exactly should happen. There are several possible things we can do and as always, if you vote for something you just have to like the post following this message.

The Options we have are:

1: Keeping PS4 and XBox One all on one board 2: Splitting XBox One and PS4 on two seperate boards 3: Keeping PS4 and XBox One all on one board, but runs will be retimed to accomodate for the advantage that XBox has

We'll have this vote up for 48 hours and will follow up with the results shortly after this vote has closed.

Hi I'd like to ask for both Kingdom Hearts and Kingdom Hearts Final Mix to have "Category extensions" added to them https://www.speedrun.com/khfm https://www.speedrun.com/kh1

These are the category extension boards if needed https://www.speedrun.com/kh1ce

Thank you very much in advance :)

I don't really see how this could be a fun category honestly. You can just use Aero at the start of every battle and it's over. The only "timesave" will come from walking from door to door.

Anyone can put in criticism, but it should be more of a constructive kind. From what I take @PlayPod wanted to do runs of this or planned on doing so at least but was turned away by the loadremover itself. Even if someone is not a runner they can put out criticism, but it should be done in a different manner.

So you want to spend 450€ to be able to compete? Or are you only saying that because you already own a Pro+SSD? It doesn't ruin it, we can make a video tutorial on it so that everyone can use it easily.

Once it's set up you use it just like you use livesplit normally, it is not my problem if you're to lazy to spend 10-15 minutes on something that makes competition fair and has been decided by the community. Your argument is basically "I don't like it so we change it" while talking about something that affects way more people.

I never said it is convenient, but it is way better than having to spend 450€ to compete in a category/game. And as I said, you might not agree with it, however the poll has decided that this is what the community wants and I can't see your vote anywhere on there. To be fair, you might've not been interested in the runs at that point, so that point doesn't necessarily count much.

The DLC is just the first step, there has been talk about expanding that rule into more games as well to make those more fair between different hardware as well. Also this loadremover is still in it's early stages, I am pretty sure we will be able to have a way easier version for this in the future.

Why would you say is this pointless? Do you know how the timing works in this game? It is a bit of a hassle to set it up, that's right, but I can tell you several things about it.

1: Limitcut is a very hard category and there have been runs done already, just not with the loadremover yet. 2: ReMind as a category takes a bit to set up and probably seems pretty boring to most people which is why there aren't any runs, but we already have 4 different runners of that category, two of which used the loadremover. 3: The Loadremover makes the competition fair. If we go by RTA then everyone would have to buy a PS4Pro with SSD just to compete, which counts in at about 450€ which is ridiculous. Having a loadremover evens it out for everyone in almost every aspect. IGT can not be properly used as you don't have a timer that shows you how long it took you to do that like during a normal Any% run. 4: This requirement was community voted, people were voting for this exact requirement. Here is the link to that https://www.speedrun.com/kh3/thread/0vx70

Hope this clears it up.

You need to have Combo Master equipped for that to work.

Lower Saxony, Germanydesa4 years ago

As for any category suggestions, the first step would be to have a run of it In the KH Community we have the rule of having 3 or more runs being done of a potential category before it gets added to the boards, just so we can ensure some kind of activity on it besides the staple categories.

Besides that, in my opinion a Lv99 speedrun sounds pretty boring. It will probably be just repetitive grinding of certain Special Portals and nothing else besides the normal Any% run. Then again, maybe you're going to be able to show off a run for this and convince me (And maybe others) of running this category.
