It's an emulator that doesn't focus on accuracy.

Yes, it's good for casual use, and it's specifically designed with lower end systems in mind. However due to it being an emulator that doesn't focus solely on accuracy it shouldn't be considered for use in the speedrunning scene.

"DuckStation is an simulator/emulator of the Sony PlayStation(TM) console, focusing on playability, speed, and long-term maintainability. Accuracy is not the main focus of the emulator, but the goal is to be as accurate as possible while maintaining performance suitable for low-end devices. "Hack" options are discouraged, the default configuration should support all playable games with only some of the enhancements having compatibility issues."

Edit; It now mentions that they are an emulator that aims for accuracy now. This is going to be rain-checked for about a year to see how mature it can get. It does help that some of the code being used is from mednafen.
Then you can easily update rules for crash series.

soon™ for what the console moderators are doing.

I press L2 or R2 i can go ahead and back in time, i don't know if it can be toggled in bizhawk settings.
This is where you need emulation knowledge: Config > Hotkeys Misc > Clear All

Alternatively at the bottom there's a key priority: Click on the image of the controller and keyboard on the status bar (left of the person) cycle that around to Keyboard.
I've written a guide about retroarch configuration to help new users to use it, if you want you can copy.
Providing Bioses are against ToS so I will not be copying it and only write one up if people are having issues in setting it up.

You mean the other communities that I'm apart of and that they have adapted from me?

Anyways since it has been a year since this topic was originally written up I'm just going to write soon™ for what the console moderators are doing.

Edit: Also despite the fact that you adapted what I wrote you banned BizHawk. You shouldn't be banning BizHawk "cause it's a TASing emulator" when you have the rule I placed "When streaming/recording a run you must be able to capture the window to show what emulator is being used."

You do know that when you capture the window this very specific rule on BizHawk the status bar is visible and can be used to call out when a TAS file is being used right?

To the right of the check-mark https://i.imgur.com/zVmVaDa.png Hey look, this is a movie file playback.

If you're using the PCSX-ReARMed core. No. If you're using the mednafen core (called Beetle). As long as the settings on default you're fine.
What about it? I only responded to the part I took issue with.
Just to note this one. Talked to ShikenNuggets in private and asked about it I didn't know their method of not mentioning something is what they agree with.
Of course people make mistakes. But I'm still gonna call them out on it instead of going "oh it's okay cuz maybe they were having a bad day".
And that's justifiable. However, there always the other side to what's happening and the full picture. Not contacting in the first place is the crux to this.
Not sure what point you're trying to make here.
Just saying that there's literally worse moderators who actually don't care about their speedgame, you can ignore the point if you want.

Thanks for actually reading to the other side, even if it's also bad. I just didn't like that there was no clear air here.

What so you don't expect people to be human and make mistakes sometimes, even if they've been moderating a series pre-srcom?

Also what about all my other comments I made? That was literally my last bit.
I don't know a single self-respecting moderator who would reject a run literally just because they're not in a good mood.
I mean there's moderators on the boards that will outright lock the threads for no justifiable reason when a topic is going on questioning how the moderators are handling the game. ¯_(ツ)_/¯
You could also just not verify runs if "you are having a bad day"
And you could also just contact the moderator that rejected their runs instead of creating an outburst first.

thread: The Site
Victoria, AustraliaSpikestuff4 years ago

And instead of trying to actually contact the moderator in question, or moderators for a "what's up?" you created this instead and to top it off you took to twitter you never contacted the moderators first. Your outburst isn't justified.

Always see if you can contact the moderators and see what's up first before you make an outburst. Because they work together to actually prevent this from happening when another moderator spots it.

And who knows, one of the moderators could've been having a bad day with nothing but having to reject a lot of runs, and they hit yours saw where your timer stops, saw the gameplay and got annoyed at it.

RivaTuner (w/ AfterBurner) is a better external one, it has the most customization available.

Fraps is best for being lightweight and if you just want to go "here's my FPS counter".

Victoria, AustraliaSpikestuff4 years ago

They're accepting runs. They're all still active. It's just no one is submitting anything.

 • You don't need to follow these steps if you own a Windows 7 Machine -

Requirements:

 • WineD3D
 • More than a single monitor setup. (The game cannot be run in windowed mode even with the amount of programs that should allow it)

Run Chicken Run Config and set it up before continuing.

Download WineD3D. In the root of where the Chicken Run executable is located copy the following files: ddraw.dll, wined3d.dll & libwine.dll

Run Chicken Run. https://i.imgur.com/QannNK0.png (Windows 10)

You can still access the Chicken Run Config menu, just be patient as it can crash quite easily.

Verify that you have the FMV files. Location: data/videos If you do not have all 15 FMV files in tact you don't have a proper version of the PC title.

It's not harassment if your attitude towards others comes off so poor with the "your <combination>" comments come off without any care towards anyone with tactless comments. You're actually more or less distancing yourself by acting as if you're better than everyone else.

If you want to talk about harassment then you should probably figure out how that term actually applies to this entire thread and yourself before you assume it applies to you. Cause spoiler alert it doesn't. This is nowhere near borderline harassment either.

If you want to respond back about this be my guest. But let me preface with this. You're wrong with what you're assuming and what you're showing especially when you locked the other thread for no logical reason.

This is my note for you. Don't pull another "harassment card" or something similar out again, you'll only distance yourself more by acting falsely.

Now go back at the topic at hand before you get egg on your face.

Edit: Per the 2nd page, second point comment by Zooball. This statement has been mentioned several times in this thread even in this comment.

None of this would be happening if Smokethebear didn't lock the original thread. We all understand the concept of time, we all understand that it wouldn't take a day if you want to do the same research to find the same results, but someone thought it would be a great idea to kill a topic midway through discussion for no logical or decent reason that's why this topic is called "don't lock the thread, dumbass".

Also great job playing that card again Smokethebear. You truly are showing that you aren't fit for moderation. That's not an attack, that's a fact so you better not read this the wrong way since you clearly glossed over my comments.

That moderation you hold should be going to someone else like Zooball (for their great calm down post, everything can be assessed and weighing everything in a single post) or Punchy (Person who can give you real world examples that you've dismissed for whatever reason).

Neither of them would prematurely kill a thread for no reason and they are both taking account of everything and have better understanding while not distancing them from others.

And neither of them would be claiming "harassment".

Just because you're first place doesn't mean you should be acting like this.

This will be my last post/edit unless something happens.

"So sorry if it takes a little bit longer than what suits you,"

6 years is quite a long time. Especially for a Resident Evil (spinoff) game, especially considering your community is usually ontop of this stuff.

Edit: Cause it's not worth writing another post as a reply. My point is more of a reflection to all moderators to this title not just you.

So stop saying "your liking" or "your standings" or whatever "your <combination>" you use. Cause common sense should've avoided this from the beginning before you were moderator.

Focusing specifically on PS2. That is beyond saving with any current working emulator and DobieStation is the savior when that can actually run games more efficiently (baby steps).

(Also fun fact: PCSX2 actually shot themselves in the foot recently by straight admitting accuracy is no longer on the table since they don't want to overhaul COP2/VU0/EE synchronization.)

For GameCube cause come on there's more than just PS2. Dolphin has a few minor faster than actual GameCube/Wii Load Times so it unfortunately has the miss for now. I'm probably neglecting lag as well so I'll leave that to someone who actually owns the system.

Victoria, AustraliaSpikestuff4 years ago

PlayStation 2 emulation is nowhere near accurate. Using the top "king" PCSX2 they're not going to be incorporating a method of accuracy due to too much time. Source: https://github.com/PCSX2/pcsx2/pull/3181#issuecomment-568209562 DobieStation is next best bet... when it gets up and running and playing games at full speed as they're not going for hacky solutions.

PSP emulation with PPSSPP is better with visual quality, however with the methods incorporated loads are horrendously wrong to an actual PSP (besides the other issues with framerate being also wrong).

Xbox360 with Xenia. It exists, nothing more to write.

Wii with Dolphin is the best contender for closest to actual hardware, unfortunately it's beating an actual Wii (and vWii) by not dropping frames and having that little edge in loads. Dolphin is still best case in getting more accurate to a Wii.

Since you didn't specify exactly which one you were after I broke it down for you instead.

RetroArch features disk speedup as one of the additional features which is not present in vanilla mednafen. Obviously, don't enable that. Keep it on default.

@burgerlands2 your run was made before the introduction of that feature.

As a note, there is frontloaders such as mednaffe for mednafen which does all the customizable stuff in a nice GUI.

Obviously I'm not one of the mods, however I do know the features.

Ignoring what was written which in this case was "mod's contacted him" (mod being you) and kinda providing alternate methods of contacting and bit of context.

@Daravae I found it fairly easy to contact @OverworldYT via Discord and what I found out with one of the two users (Bluely) is that they're banned from the Discord of the speedrunning community.

Now I didn't ask further if that included the srcom but I thought I'd let you know.
