Any% Route

I have created a route with indepth notes for this game, is there a way I can add it to the nfs:mw page for others to use and/or improve. Or is there a certain place I should submit them too. I'm new and any help would be appreciated, thank you.

Thanks I just submitted it

I don't see any guides for MW.

Hello, I'm currently starting to make a route too, today I'm doing all Sonny races with all 3 base cars with stock parts. I'll update these notes always when I play, so keep looking for it sometimes !

By the way, tell me if some English words aren't good in it, I play French version of the game, so it might contain French words I didn't translated ^^

Here they are atm : https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1_Ok9A0WJd-ZM-II0JEcqjOwO9wZb2tOka5c8CapCMLs

Atm it looks like Simon's document but I plan to build a real route with taking into account the cash and the bounty. Taz will be done tomorrow, maybe Vic as well. I've got some free time so I'll try to do it as fast as possible for you to drive entire runs. ( I could do it too, but as my upload is bad I can't stream, and a 10 hour run is so long to upload I'd die before it would be finished :D)

I still don't know why both routings prefer the IS300 over the Cobalt SS. It obviously has a better Acceleration and Top Speed, even if it has some problems with oversteering in corners. If you get used to this car, it's way faster than both Punto and IS300 (You only have to deal with this car like 5 races and 1 pursuit so idk why picking the IS300 would be smarter). Maybe one of the 2 authors can say something about their specific pick for the IS300.

France

Maybe the feeling, I don't know. Tho at the beginning of the game the Punto isn't that bad, it's just a bit slower. But yes, the IS300 is REALLY slow.

I just finished #11 right now, starting #10.

France

Doing #7 atm.

I think I glitched the game hard today, I still don't know what happended exactly. On one of the circuits I need for Kaze, I finished it in one lap, but normally it requires 3. So I gained 2 minutes right there.

Later, I saw that my pursuit heat went back to 1, and I have no clue on what happended. I didn't get caught, I didn't even saw a cop today. And this is making me lose HUGE time.

Germany

You didn't record it, did you? :-S Did you get out of the race or just played the first lap normal and it finished automatically?

If your Heat goes back to level1 it's obviously not faster (if we can figure the glitch out). Are you sure it happened right after you bugged the race?

Germany

i feel shame.

France

Really? :o I didn't even noticed it was a possibility. Thanks ! If we think about it it's so obvious...

Now there's a possibility to drive the lotus, which would be a time gain in this case.

France

Ok, so the glitch i talked about yestrday with one lap circuits is effective ! This is definitely the big discovery in this run and I think on a full run we could gain maybe more than 20 minutes, if it worls properly on most circuits & knockouts.

I still need to search harder to really undrstand it, but here's the thing : If you drive a circuit (or a knockout) with another career profile than your run, in free race (I drove it with the Golf too, but playing it with another car might now work, didn't tested), during your career it will show 3 laps, but the race will be over after one lap.

I have to test :

  • If it works on all circuits and knockouts
  • If saving is removing this glitch
  • If we restart a glitched race, is the glitch still there?
  • Is it working for Blacklist duel races?

Although, question for admins : Is it ok if I drive these races before I create a new profile for my run? I mean, it's not supposed to be counted in a run, I hope.

So first, I'll finish my route planning, then I'll look closer to this glitch.

If you're using another file, it should be NG+, as you're using that other file beforehand to exploit your run's file. Not that that makes it any less worth than a normal Any% run; NG+ would probably be the more popular category and might bring more interest in the game because it'll be shorter.

France

A carrer mode isn't possible in NG+. It just doesn't exist on this game

Cambridgeshire, England

Yes, but you are using a different file beforehand (before you start the timer) to change how the run's file works, which is effectively just like playing through a new game file on an RPG and then picking NG+ to have your previous file's stats on the new playthrough, which changes how the new playthrough works. NG+ doesn't literally have to have an NG+ option, just something that works in the same way.

France

Then let's wait for an admin to tell us his feelings about that.

I understand it's manipulation, but first, I need to try it for a full run, to see clearly how it works, and second, this run is atm about 10 hours long with NO DAMN PAUSE ! There is no unskippable cutscenes, no long loadings, no waits at any point of the run.

So, just a way to gain a bit of time is really not too much.

I said that a new NG+ category using this trick "would probably be the more popular category and might bring more interest in the game because it'll be shorter." So you shouting about how long the current Any% is doesn't really affect my point.

France

There's already like nobody to run this game. In games who have at least some people to run it, you can have at least 2 leaderboards because every player will be satisfied with what he wants to do. In the case of Most Wanted, there's quite nobody (just like 3 or 4 maybe interested, but we'll see in the future). If we do 2 separate leaderboards for this game, I'm afraid that there will be no challenge at all between runners and so it will be boring as fuck.

Tho I didn't said that NG+ is bad, I think the best should be to keep it in a single leaderboard.

JessicaSix just made sub 10 hours run couple days ago and once he sorts the videos and upload them, it should be up here soon.

As for the career glitch (sorry I didn't respond, I forgot to follow MW), it's almost the same situation as in Carbon and 240SX, so it should be NG+ I'm discussing the Carbon thing with SDA, which has far more experience with these things, but they also believe it should be NG+

How exactly does that glitch works? Do you need to have two profiles with the same career progress or you just need to start a new profile, go to free race (assuming free race is not part of the career - correct me if I am wrong) and pick the race you want? That shouldn't be considered NG+ since you can do it during your run. Same like Grim spent 15 minutes unlocking 240SX in his Carbon run.

Czech Republic

IL? Didn't you rather mean segmented run?

JessicaSix, the glitch needs to be investigated further before we can judge whether it's good to use or not.

France

In detail : You drive, for example, a circuit (whatever which one) in free race with a career we'll call '1', for one lap. You win it, it's ok.

If you then go to your career you drive during your speedrun, which we'll call it '2', if you drive this track, whatever the number of laps which is showed on the HUD, you'll finish the race in one lap if you're leading.

SO that means this is a pre-run work, before creating any new save for the speedrun. BUT, I have to control if every circuit and knockouts are possible like this, if saving is cancelling it... I'm gonna do a run probably tomorrow with this to see how it works.

But to do this you need that your '1' career is finished, at least you must have defeated Razor. Then once you did all you wanted in one lap you start a new career.

So my question is : can we do it BEFORE we start the timer?

And by the way, as I'm quite new to speedrunning, what means IL?

Edit : By the way, I'm not on PC, I'm on X360.
