Mods Resetting Gamma
10 months ago
Australia

I have recently starting running, and have downloaded some of the allowed mods to do so, however my gamma keeps resetting back to 1.0 every time I increase it. I have done some research and found that it is apparently to do with mods, does anyone know why they may be doing this? At this point I am only using Atum, FastReset, DynamicFPS and SpeedrunIGT. (Also if someone could tell me what is the best gamma level to set; at the moment I am setting 5.0)

5.0 is the best gamma level to have. Which version are you running, because if it's 1.19+ Mojang fixed the gamma going above 1.0 so it won't be the mods. Due to it no longer being doable in vanilla, you're also not allowed to use mods to increase the gamma for 1.19+, so I'd recommend running a past version if this is the case.

@Roctendo you should play on 1.16.1 because it’s best for speedrunning and you can easily increase gamma to 5 in the game settings from the menu with sodium without editing options.txt. I highly recommend sodium for performance and a few other things https://github.com/Minecraft-Java-Edition-Speedrunning/mcsr-sodium-1.16.1/releases/tag/v2. Also sleepbackground is a better version of dynamic fps so I recommend getting that. https://github.com/RedLime/SleepBackground/releases/tag/3.8

I can see two possible issues regarding restetting of gamma:

  1. You have your game open - you can only change it manually if game is not active, otherwise it will reset back to 1.0

  2. If you are using StandardSetting mod you need to change gamma value in its settings, if its set to 1 the mod will change it back every time you change it, if you set it to change gamma to 5.0 it should work smoothly

btw, here is a list of all allowed mods at the moment: https://redlime.github.io/MCSRMods/

@Oclock5 @LegoPirate I play on 1.16.1; why wouldn’t I? I also have been using 5.0

BSRF I did download StandardSettings at one point, but that was for an instance in MultiMC, would that have transferred over? The only mods in my mod folder at the moment are the ones mentioned above, so would it have gone somewhere else in .minecraft?

Every instance in multi mc is different they are not connected so if you don’t have standard settings in that instance that would not be the issue
